October 7, 200817 yr I'm looking to plan a trip to Vegas, probably over "Christmas Break" in December or Early January. Any tips? Where to stay (or, more importantly, where NOT to stay)? Will probably fly out there & only stay a few days.

October 7, 200817 yr I personally like Harrah's. It's centrally located and the prices aren't bad at all. I flew out there last year on Christmas Day.

October 7, 200817 yr I used to be a regular , been there dozens of times. I'll take the Golden Nugget over anything second choice would be the Four Queens. The Fremont Street Experience is the best. One day on the Strip is enough for me, overpriced, lower payout, all corporate. Vegas is nothing like it was 10 - 20 years ago, but Fremont Street is most like the old Vegas. I miss the mob. Vegas was much better then, If you're set on the strip their all pretty nice hotels, can't really go wrong, except for IMO the Luxor. Everyone I know that has stayed there says the service is horrible. http://www.vegas.com is a great place to start for packages.
October 7, 200817 yr I'm sure your first time you'll probably want to stay on the strip, but like coldweather fan stated above, Freemont will give you the bang for the buck. Considering that you'll be there in the winter, you won't have to worry about any pool action, so why spend all your money on a room you'll never be in? I honestly would also recommend renting a car, the driving out their is simple, just avoid the main drag, you can also get a car for cheap. Bottom line, all casinos sound the same, basically look the same except for the "theme", spend your money on the games and not the bed.
October 7, 200817 yr First of all CC, stay on the strip, you will be mad once you get out there and realize you aren't on the strip. I have stayed at New York, New York and the Flamingo. Flamingo works for me, have stayed there twice so far. It has a great location, good room rates and it still has a bit of "old Vegas" with the newer Vegas feel. Best advice is your going to Vegas you will want to be on the strip.
October 7, 200817 yr Before 9/11 I went for like 7 straight years. I prefer Circus Circus. The 96.8% pay back on slots was the only ones I played. We would then walk out the side and go to Slots -0 - Fun play a little Keno and get my $0.99 Shrimp Cocktail. Than walk across the street to the Riviera and get a $0.99 Foot Long Hotdog and play little more slots. Had a blast!! Be sure to get all the free stuff each place hands out. I think I still have decks of cards I have not opened yet.
October 7, 200817 yr One of my aunts lives in Las Vegas. We traveled there for my sisters 21st birthday and we plan to travel there for mine as well
