Biggest surprise of the night?

Featured Replies

Most surprising:

- Fort Campbell beating Tilghman like a government mule.

- Ashland beating Russell and dominating them on the ground.

Not Reall Surprising, but Unexpected Nonetheless

- Trinity carrying the torch of the bluegrass state

As for my thoughts on the whole, "Who is the best?" debate. I certainly agree with jbwill's assessment. But, I certainly wish that after the Trinity victory we could all agree that there were 4 or 5 teams who could say they are the ebst team in the state. Not as a knock on Trinity by any means; just that would mean that KY football as a whole has improved to another level in terms of competing nationally.

Bell dominating Rockcastle like they did I heard that they only had 1 first down and 30 yards of offense in the first half but I have heardn't anything else. I think that this proves that they didn't take Knox Central last weekend very serious.

It will be interesting to see when KC rolls into the Rock for predominately 2 place in the district should be a big ball game when it rolls around. Very important for both teams to at least get one game at home in the playoffs.

Yes, because the loser gets Bell County at Log Mountain in the second round.

Anyone? Ashland beating Russell by essentially 4 touchdowns probably makes the list. And while maybe not a huge surprise, Trinity putting it on Cincy St. X must have been a memorable game.

Thae margin of the Ashland/Russell game was a suprise to me but certanly not the outcome, imo an Ashland win in that one was no suprise.

Do you think that Highlands is the best team in the state, overall?

I'm surprised that the Highlands/Trinity supporters still refuse to respect John Hardin. Any time someone on here gives them credit, a Bird or T fan will quickly remind everyone that they are not anywhere close to being the caliber of the almighty Trinity or Highlands. Could they beat Trinity? JH would be an underdog, but I bet it would be a heckuva game, just ask Male and St. X. As far as Highlands, we will see in December.

The last 3 years JH has been extremely tough, it may have been further back than that, but as far as I can remember them being a contender, I definatley look at them being a force in 6A, even though I have no dog in the fight in 6A.

JH is 5A.

Counting your eggs before they hatch, are we?

And I hate to bring this up, but JH state championships: 0.

Trinity/Highlands: 34 combined.

Granted those two programs have been around for a while, but win a state title or a few before you're considered the "best" in the state. When it comes to being the best in the state, JH has a LOT to prove.

See post #3 which was authored by a Highlands supporter.

You're not really buying that, are you?

 Surely, Henry wouldn't sandbag....

NOTE TO BGP: Highlands supporters do not disrespect John Hardin. I can personally say that when I check the Friday night scores every week one of the VERY first I look at is the John Hardin score. The reason: if Highlands wants to win no. 18 this year they very likely will have to go through JH.

Do you guys forget that Bowling Green and Owensboro will have a say in this and last I checked JH BG and Owensboro are 2,3 and 4 in the rankings.

BG has proved they can play holding Trinity to 17 points even though it was in a monsson and Owensboro has beaten Evansville Reitz who still only has one lose on the season and then just beat #6 in 6A Daviess Co. by 20.

I know John Hardin is good they always have a good team but I am waiting until they play someone higher up in the standings before I say they are the team to beat this year.

Oh and Owensboro also held Hoptown to 14 points and at the time hoptown was averaging just a shade under 50 a game. Good thing for JH is Owensboro and BG are in the same region this year so they will only have to play one of them and most likely it will be at home to go to the finals.

Powell Co. shutting out Fleming Co. was real surprise! Never thought that would have happened.
