JB Will, you are probably looking for a little more on the JV besides the score. Freshman Carter New filled in at QB for the Birds. He looked good covering while Austin Abner gets another week or two to recover.

 

Receiving the ball were Brian Gall & Daniel Gold at WR & Big Kyle Welz at TE.

 

Running the Ball were Travis Alford, Cory Compton & Spencer Bankemper. The trio doubled as the inside linebacking core keeping the Colonels in check.

 

Kevin Duenas made some nice returns on Punts & KO's.

 

Brian Beck, Hahn, & Sullivan were also a force for the JV Today.

 

 

Dixie's two scores came after a very short field after a fumble & after the Birds were backed up on their own side with a penalty after the punt.

 

The Birds could move the ball on the ground at will and took the time to develop the passing game much like the varsity game Friday night.

 

The QB for Dixie was the only player able to move the ball with any success. He looks like a talented kid that could use some more supporting players.

Dixie scored 28 unanswered points late in the game. At the time, it was Dixie's first string versus Highlands 2nd/3rd team defenses. After Dixie's 4th score, Highlands brought out their 1st string offense to score again. Highlands still had control of the game with a score of 49 to 28 with around 4 minutes left. IMO, Dale took a big risk putting the starters back in after sitting so long.
