The times that I have heard one of them talk, put things on their web-site or even speak to the media they have done nothing but compliment their kids. I know that from experience that certain schools take advantage of hospitality rooms and many people abuse the use of coaches cards.

In general, people usually take advantage of anything that's free.:ylsuper:

Pressrow, I would be willing to bet that the amount you are referring to is never revealed! Just like how those business in Mt. Sterling were going to make up any difference in revenue from last year's tourny and we all know how that turned out.

 

You know SD, its amazing that a press release is put on here about the 2009 tournament yet not revealing any financial information related to the tournament other than what its going to cost the general fan(s) at the gate which by the way is ridiculous. I find this to very very shady at best. Why can't the cost to rent the arena be revealed. It has to be known or otherwise how was it unanimously voted on to hold the tournament at the arena. Could this be why they are having two regions represent, could this be why the admissions are potentially ridiculous for a fan only wanting to see their region play or team play. This is a joke, and a slap in the face to the fans in the region. Not everyone can nor wants to spend an entire day in the gym just to feel like the time justifies the money spent at the door.

Ah good ol Mildfordflash, great to hear your comments, regardless of who pays, I had a question on the rental and sounds like there has to be some sponsorship going on as sources have told me how much the rental is. You and everyone else can enjoy the tournament that is being spread around from place to place, I think of this as cheapening the tradition of the 10th region tournament and the tradition it has held at the Fieldhouse!

It's funny I've said on here before so I'll say it again I DON'T LIVE IN MASON CO!!!! I actually live much closer to you than to Maysville, assuming that you live in Milford. But even though some fans don't care about the finances, the schools do, and when increased costs are passed on to the fans in the form of increased prices, then I would think that finances would become more interesting to the fans. I do have to pay to get in and yes I think that it is a little high. Especially if you choose to leave and return and I can only image how high the food prices will be. In reference to the the clearing of the gym between games, this decision is made by a vote of the region, not by Mason Co officials, that practice didn't change this year when the tourny was held in Mt. Sterling. If you go back and read my previous post, my drive this year will be much shorter than last and I would rather see the tourny at NKU verses in Mt. Sterling. BUT, I will go on record as stating that I still hate to see the 10th regional tournament loose the atmosphere that has always made it special and I agree with MUSTANG on that issue 100%.

I think of this as cheapening the tradition of the 10th region tournament and the tradition it has held at the Fieldhouse!

I wholeheartedly agree that we are really getting away from what has made the 10th Region Tournament so special for lo these many years.

 

Montgomery County has had their shot and lets give the 37th District a fair chance to conduct the tournament in Northern Kentucky's newest showcase, the BOK Center. Then I would like to see the tournament return to its roots, which is central to everyone in the region, with a permanent return to the Fieldhouse.

You and me both. I thought that Montgomery County did a pretty decent job of hosting last year; and I thought that the atmosphere actually helped Mason County in terms of preparation for the state tournament.

 

And I would rather watch a regional final sitting in a capacity crowd of 5,000 in a high school gym than in a crowd of 5,000 in a college gym with a capacity of 9,000. And before someone starts whining that the tournament is about the players, I realize that. I'm not a player that will have to get off a bus after a 2+ hour ride; being centrally located (in terms of the 10th region), my ride will be no longer than just over an hour to wherever the tournament is held.

 

And yes, prices at Mason County would be about half of those in your post (we don't have ice cream); and I think that the same was true in Mt. Sterling.
