Do you think the Diocese would ever scrap Brossart/NCC and build one LARGE Catholic H.S. somewhere between the county and the city? It could lead to some competition for St.X and T!

This was discussed around eight years ago , but was scrapped . Too much opposition from both NCC and Brossart . It would have been built across from St Joeseph Parish and behind Bob Evans in Cold Spring .

IMHO NCC 's new stadium will become a reality before a completely new one is built for Hignlands .

Going w/ the hypo, that would lead to only about 550 boys at the new High School. It would lead to some big competition for CovCath, seeing as Brossart always gives them a headache in basketball and NewCath has been competitive with them at the 3 big sports. St. X and T??? Only if CovCath, Brossart, and NewCath combined.

Did NCC own the land were K-Mart is sitting ? Boy that sure would have been a great spot for a field.

I bet here is what will happen. They finish the new school and sit back for a few years. Once the new shopping area is finished across from Blockbuster it will take all business from Kmart and the other stores at the bottom of NewCath's hill. NewCath does still own a little bit of that land, I believer where the bank sits. They buy out the rest and build a SWEET sports complex down there. I think that would be a GREAT plan and a wonderful place to put the new field. A turf football field for football and soccer with a track around it. It would be helpful to many kids and something everyone that has anything to do with NewCath could be very proud of. Go Breds the future looks bright. I wonder how much it will cost a year by the time my 16 month old daughter gets there. :scared:

At one time Mt St. Martin which was the original convent for The Sisters of Divine Providence in Kentucky was located there and I think that the diocese did own it but it has been 40 years ago or more since that house was demolished .

That's crazy, why would they sell it in the first place.

The Diocese is committed to having Catholic High Schools available to the inner city population. With this being an important focus, a NCC / Brossart merger is very unlikely.

That's a safe assumption since it sounds like there's been no official talk at all about building a new Highlands stadium.

The school doesn't own the land that NCC sits on the diocese does .

The city of Cold Spring also turned down the proposal to build a new HS across from St. Joes. They didn't want all the extra traffic with no taxes to pay for it.
