No, we have 6 Elementary spread throughout the county. That larger of the school's is the High School while the one to the right is the middle school.

We basically have a run away budget. A new turf field costing around what $800k-1M, along with a new stadium, locker room, baseball field, tennis courts, and indoor training facility on the way. Not to mention a $1.5M dollar Swimming Pool the year before. Its basically a runaway sports budget, also I'm not saying that people don't have money it's just the fact that people aren't entirely alright witht he fact to pay $20 to talk on forums. I would because sports, in general, is like at the top of my list.

 

That's just over a nickle a day. Come on man.

RYAN, I live in Lawrence County and have been a BGP member on and off for MANY years. I for one can say that starting another place to chat that is free sounds like a good idea until you actually try it. You quickly realize that the $20 fee on here is MORE than worth the quality of the site and more importantly the MASSIVE amounts of knowledge that is floating around here. This site has the guys and gals that are the most knowledgeable, mature (usually) and fun to converse with. This site may not give you the constant talking talking about JC that you are after but as you have already heard from others, that's only the JC fans fault.

 

So go forth and spread the word about this site. I think you'll find that a little over $1.50 per month is WELL worth what your getting here.

 

P.S. As a Lawrence County fan I would love to bad mouth JC, but unfortunately the others on here would quickly point out that they whipped our butt last time we played so for now I won't say a bad word about them.

Wish I'd seen this thread sooner. I consider Johnson Central one of the state's great success stories. When I first joined back in '02 and under a different name, I was disgusted with the way three schools in particular were being made fun of and disparaged especially with people saying such things as they were horrible, no one cared about their sports, and they didn't have the athletes to ever change. At the time, Johnson Central, Knox Central and Lincoln County, with 5 wins between them, were pretty tough to defend and point toward a better day. All three have made huge strides and are now respectable teams with Johnson Central easily among the elite in their class.

 

Congrats to JC, they came along way in very short time.

I have never even heard of JC until the playoffs last year. I wouldn't want to neglect any of our REAL rivals with spending time talking bad about a school I never even heard of but sounds like its got a nice facility from what I hear.

Although my travels have been a little bit limited, Jounson Central has the best atmosphere - of the places I've visited - for a high school football game. Great facility, great hospitality, and great eats.

 

As for "why do prople hate Johnson Central", I don't see much of that on this site. If I were to venture a guess, maybe it's what I would call "Jeff Gordon syndrome". The JC program, like Jeff Gordon, comes out of nowhere, seems to have vast resources, is kind of the "pretty boy" that some folks believe, justified or not, hasn't paid his dues.

I agree it is very much worth $1.50 to come converse with the intellectuals on these forums about sports which seem to know much more about sports than any sports writer could ever understand.

Thank you Pepper II. He understands what this program has came from and been turned into along with many others. JC had only averaged 2 wins a season before Coach Jim Matney had come and turned the program around completely.

"Jeff Gordon Syndrome" is the only way to explain this. That would have to be the best "definition" of what is actually happening to a lot of good unnoticed programs not only Johnson Central.

It seems everyone hates JC. May be the reason of them coming out of nowhere? They are no longer a district doormat? They have averaged 10 wins a season over the past 4 years? I would like to see any other public school (except for Highlands of course) to even match those stats.

I give JC the upmost respect, although I have to admit when someone called them Johnsonville a year or two ago, it was funny and I don't care who ya are.
