Nearly 40% of Americans already believe that Palin is better qualified to be president than Obama. That is an amazing stat given that most people had not heard of her before McCain announced that she would be his running mate. The Obama camp is rattled and that is an understatement. Money poured into the Obama campaign following Palin's speech because Democrats are beginning to realize that Obama made a blunder in passing over Hillary to tap Biden for the Number 2 spot.

:thumb: I do not specifically recall health care being discussed but Palin definitely spoke about the economy and foreign affairs. She tied both Obama's proposed tax hikes and his idiotic energy plan of no drilling and no new nuclear plants to the economy. She also detailed how the natural gas pipeline that she negotiated will be creating jobs and helping the economy of the lower 48. I do not see how anybody who watched the speech could say that she never touched on the economy.

 

She did not speak about the economy outside of energy. No discussion on unemployment, no discussion on affordable education, no discussion on taxes other than inaccurately portraying Sen. Obama's plan.

 

Now if that one conversation about energy is going to be a panacea then , yes, she talked about the economy.

 

She did not talk about healthcare.

I don't know if you're seeing these in the rest of the state; but in the past 24 hours, we've been bombarded with hard-core Obama attack ads on the Cincinnati stations. They're desperately trying to tie him to GWB.

I heard it on Michael Medved this morning on the drive-in, but I'll see if I can find a link. The CBS Poll found that an eight-point gap from Saturday had been closed to a dead heat.

Palin tied both the Republican's energy plan and Obama's proposed tax increases to their effect on the state of the economy. It may not be what you were looking for, but to say that Palin did not talk about the economy is wrong.

To be honest (and I'm a Democrat) I thought she did an excellent job of telling the people what they wanted to hear. I am more interested in how she would do in a debate. I think she is too green to do too well in a debate.....enter BGP Republicans to comment on being green.

All he's telling us is that he wants to CHANGE HIMSELF. Don't get more mainstream Washington Insider then McBush. Is he going to try to pretend he wasn't there for 100 years?

 

McBush lost credibility back in 2000 when Georgie girl slapped him and talked about his family like dogs to the press. What does McBush do...walks up and gives him a big hug and kiss. If theis guy won't defend his family, do you really expect him to defend our country? I don't.

Which is what I've been saying since her selection. I'm fairly certain she'll be able to avoid any major faux pas, but she has to go beyond that to show substance in her answers. She'll have to be able to show she has a real grasp on the issues, on a national scale. She'll have to show that she's able to understand the issues facing large urban areas, inner cities and such. And, of course, have an answer for the Israeli/Palestinian saga, Iran, Iraq, Russia, Korea.....
