I was shocked that the infamous "Michelle Obama I Hate Whitey" video was not rolled out last night. Seems like that could have wrapped up the election.

She took her shot at Michelle by saying something like true Americans love their country in good times or bad....a shot at MO saying the USA was mean.

Michelle has been pithed. Even liberal writer Richard Cohen has said so...

Off the top of my head ...

 

The "parting the waters" comment and the "community organizing with actual responsibility" comment. It's obvious that Obama's "community organizer" background has become a GOP talking point.

 

Frankly, I feel the constant mocking and condescension is beneath her.

 

The community organizer comment was a retaliatory comment against those who have questioned her experience.

Like it or not she is battling not only the opponent but the media to an extent.

The parting the waters comment was for the GOP base who have annointed him as the Messiah.

But I understand where some may construe it that way.

Are you serious? How much effort does it take to link the President and Sen. McCain when they agree with other 90% of the time. I'm not commenting on the wisdom of agreeing but rather that its impossible to separate them in the one area that matters - how you legislate.

Palin tied both the Republican's energy plan and Obama's proposed tax increases to their effect on the state of the economy. It may not be what you were looking for, but to say that Palin did not talk about the economy is wrong.

The truth is, of course, that McCain is the most unlike Bush of any of the Republican senator. (When Obama’s people claim that Bush and McCain voted the same 94 percent of the time, they forget that most of the votes in the Senate are unanimous.) The fact that McCain backs commending a basketball team on its victory doesn’t mean that he is in lockstep ideologically with the president.

 

The issues on which McCain and Bush differ are legion:

 

* McCain fought for campaign finance reform — McCain-Feingold — that Bush resisted and ultimately signed because he had no choice.

 

* McCain led the battle to restrict interrogation techniques of terror suspects and to ban torture.

 

* McCain went with Joe Lieberman on a tough measure to curb climate change, something Bush denies is going on.

 

* McCain opposed the Bush tax cuts when they passed.

 

* McCain urged the Iraq surge, a posture Bush rejected for years before conceding its wisdom.

 

* McCain favors FDA regulation of tobacco and sponsored legislation to that effect, a position all but a handful of Republican senators oppose.

 

* McCain’s energy bill, also with Lieberman, is a virtual blueprint for energy independence and development of alternate sources.

 

* After the Enron scandal, McCain introduced sweeping reforms in corporate governance and legislation to guarantee pensions and prohibit golden parachutes for executives. Bush opposed McCain’s changes and the watered-down Sarbanes-Oxley bill eventuated.

 

* McCain has been harshly critical of congressional overspending, particularly of budgetary earmarks, a position Bush only lately adopted (after the Democrats took over Congress).

 

Remember that McCain ran against Bush in 2000.

 

McCain’s Republican advisers need to realize that they won the primary and that they do not need to cotton to the delegates at their convention or to appease the Bush White House. The more they respond to Obama’s and Biden’s attacks on Bush by saying, “It ain’t me, babe,” the more he will moot the entire purpose of the Democratic convention.

Be careful there TBG, the mayor of St. Paul in charge of helping protect the convention and the protests OUTSIDE is a Democrat.

 

He was interviewed when they raided some of the far left Dems protest hotel rooms and uncovered weapons and other illegal things.

 

The Reps protested and I never saw a story about anyone getting arrested.

Almost daily there seems to have been brushes with the law with the Dems protestors.

It seems pretty obvious that the far left is worse than the far right, AT LEAST in regards to abiding by the law when protesting.

So...these are my comments from last night's coverage.

 

First...I fell asleep before Gov. Palin spoke. I was so mad this morning that I missed it!

 

Second....Did anyone notice that under the light in that convention center, Cindy's scalp was shining through her blond hair?

 

Third...Mama McCain scares the heck out of me! :eek: She looked so stern and mean last night! I liked her better in the 60 Minutes interview.

 

Fourth...I think Rudy is going blind. The poor guy was squinting like crazy to read his lines.

 

Fifth....Rudy was funny, but what was even funnier was that everyone was a beat behind on the laugh-track.

 

 

Seriously...I did notice these things...and I'd have said more about the speeches themselves, but several people have beat me to the punch on what I was going to say.

Instead of expanding on the platform for healthcare, the economy, social security, medicare, job security or foreign affairs, Palin chose to compare herself to Obama.

 

If she thinks that being an activist in a commuity and helping thousands who lost their jobs at a steel mill train for new jobs, find safe housing free of asbestos, feed their families or continue their education is not on the same level with selling an airplane on E Bay, she should resign today.
