There are fair-weather fans in every town, for every sport, and I'd just as soon get them out of the stands and let me buy their tickets cheap. I don't blame Kragthorpe. There are probably some things he could do to improve the team that he's not doing, but with so much going on, it's hard to put everything on his shoulders.

I'm not a Kragthorpe fan, I don't dislike the man personally but I don't think the media darling white knight persona resonates with this program. The fans here have a little more edge and attitude to them, I think we like a little "chippyness" in our coach ala Schnelly, John L and Petrino. The fact that we are not winning like we had been makes it really hard not to question the move. I will agree with Jurich and other that more time is needed for Kragthorpe to get his system in place, and that putting to much on this season or this game is a mistake. There were young players who made some contribution and can provide a lot of leadership later as they mature. Most of the bigger plays yesterday came from our Freshman and Soph class. Coach English did an outstanding job with the defense, they really looked good. Offensively we have a lot of things to put together, and I will be the first to say I was disappointed in Brohm's play calling, but he to is new to the job. But anyway getting back to Jurich. As a UofL fan Jurich's attitude toward the fans is exactly the sort of "chippyness" that we want to see out of our coach. I want my people to be defensive and proud and a little arrogant, most successful people have those qualities. I agree, fans would like someone with a little more attitude (honestly, Coach Nichols comes to mind, doesn't hel?:lol:). I think Kragthorpe has it in him, but he will need to get his team winning for that to happen. As you said, it was the younger players making the big plays... so the future isn't so dim. I really think Kragthorpe needs to quit seeming to be so darn patient. He needs to get angry. He needs to make his team run laps around the stadium after a loss or something.

Really a new coach needs at least 3-4 years to get his personnel into place before you can make an evaluation. I think he had a lot of NFL talent last year and blew it...which is one of the things, I think, UL fans are holding against him...and to an extent it is fair game. Some are wanting to compare his situation to Brooks in his first few years. Two different situations. Brooks came in heading into major scholly reductions and the like. UL's was a great situation gone bad, and now have self-impeded scholarship issues.
