You got to think this will be the Cats weakest team they will field for the next few years...I would guess the same can be said for UofL also.

I hope they keep the series going...should be some good games in the years to come.

Seems like some of the Cardinals (fans/press) are "flying the coop! I guess that is is "fair weather" today :D

The capital for the last two years. UofL has still won 7 out of 11 overall.

U.K. holds the overall advantage in this series. Jmo but someone can't just pick the years they want.

:thumb: You are correct Oldrambler, on all accounts.

Not happening. I sat in the stands at Old Cardinal during the 1-10 1997 season and I'll sit through this. Am I disappointed with what happened yesterday? Absolutely. Am I still going to watch every single game this year (despite the horrendous sunburn I received yesterday)? Also, ABSOLUTELY.

We actually agree here. The only two games that matter in a rivalry are the last one and the next one. See you next year.

:thumb: Kudos to you for sticking with your Cardinals. My post didn't say "all" fans, it said some of them. You are obviously a true U.L. fan by this post/quote as are a few other bgp.U.L. fans. I don't have a problem with that at all and enjoy the jabbing back and forth, is all in good fun when it is like that.:thumb:

There are acouple though that seem to have been and are missing on these U.K./U.L. game threads that were all over the earlier threads. I'll leave that one alone though, they know who they are.

^ Of course, it is worth noting that I was one of the much-discussed fans who left early yesterday. I didn't pay for a season ticket and a sunburn to watch Bilal Powell jog out kickoff returns during the fourth quarter while we're down. My sunburn and I are really happy that next week is another 3:30 kickoff.

Congrats to UK. Your defense is impressive and it should help get you some wins while that young offense comes together. Good luck.

I don't feel they quit. Powell should not be a kick returner, but he was jogging in the beginning of the game the same way. Cantwell choked and started turning the ball over but the team didn't quit.

That and it was ridiculously hot, the players had to be wearing down.

On both teams though right???

I'm not sure we saw much of UK's offense at all in the end of the game, Louisville turned it over quite a few times near the end. Defensively UK was allowing Louisville to move the ball a little more but they created turnovers. Both sides showed to fatigue in the heat.

RRR, what is your take on Jurich's comments in the C-J yesterday?

To me, they came off as rather smug towards the UL fan.

"Everybody knows out there what kind of coach he is," Jurich said of Kragthorpe. "I think the only place that doesn't is Louisville, Ky. He's a tough guy. You'll never see him blame anybody. He takes everything on the chin. He's a man's man. He lives his life the right way, and that's what I want; I want a great leader of men in this program, and I know we have one. The more I've seen of Steve, the more impressed I've been."

When asked if Kragthorpe needs to beat UK to win back some of his own fans, Jurich said: "I don't know if they'd come back even if he did win. I don't think he is worried about that, though. I think he wants to do the best job he can, and our fans, they'll make their own decisions."

Jurich is a smug and proud guy, he never likes to be called out on anything. I'm not a Kragthorpe fan, I don't dislike the man personally but I don't think the media darling white knight persona resonates with this program. The fans here have a little more edge and attitude to them, I think we like a little "chippyness" in our coach ala Schnelly, John L and Petrino. The fact that we are not winning like we had been makes it really hard not to question the move.

I will agree with Jurich and other that more time is needed for Kragthorpe to get his system in place, and that putting to much on this season or this game is a mistake. There were young players who made some contribution and can provide a lot of leadership later as they mature. Most of the bigger plays yesterday came from our Freshman and Soph class. Coach English did an outstanding job with the defense, they really looked good. Offensively we have a lot of things to put together, and I will be the first to say I was disappointed in Brohm's play calling, but he to is new to the job.

But anyway getting back to Jurich. As a UofL fan Jurich's attitude toward the fans is exactly the sort of "chippyness" that we want to see out of our coach. I want my people to be defensive and proud and a little arrogant, most successful people have those qualities.
