I just looked at our 24 small players and compared them to the HUGE picture of Highlands frosh. Yikes. I'm worried.......let's just hope the boys can have fun out there.

How many on the HHS frosh team this year? Last year was about 44 which I understand was larger than prior years?

Frosh Birds are going to make a BIG presence in this game. If this series will be continued at the varsity level, I am affraid it will be a loooong four years for the Breds.

I amoung all others know that in four years the development of a team changes due to transfers, players choosing another sport, serious injuries and impact players even die. I have seen players develop into starters when as freshman they didn't play many downs. Yes my friend the landscape changes for us all, but I see alot of depth and determination in my team as do you with yours.

I think the confusion comes from the fact that this year, the refs asked the schools to not start the games any earlier than possible as they have real jobs and need to get from them to the field. Highlands has agreed to not start the games until 6.

That's not as bad as I was led to believe that it would be. This is going to be a growing experience for the Frosh this year at NewCath. Get better every game to get ready to contribute next year.

27-8 final...

1st half was rather uneventfull. Brady Hitchew scored for the Breds first and looked very good running the ball. The Birds got on the Board before the half and tied it 8-8.

 

2nd half belonged to the Birds. Jake True probably had over 100 yrds in this half alone, one coming on a 78 yrd jaunt to put the Birds up 27-8.

 

Andy Miller looked good at QB for the Breds and #75 I beleive his name is Andrew Morris was an animal for the Breds. He was all over the field on defense.

 

Not bad for a first game. The Birds should be running between the tackles all night long with that 5 back rotation they have with True/Ringwald/Quillen/Carson/McGurn. I really liked the way #17 Quillen looked out there tonight. He is going to be one heckuva football player at Highlands.
