Is Sub Station II still open in NoKy? That place was great!

 

Subway, IMO, sucks big time (unless you're a big fan of bread and lettuce sandwiches).

 

Yes, they're still around.

 

For me, Sub Station and Jersey Mikes are right there at the top. If you freshly slice the meat, it already puts you towards the top IMO.

 

For a hot sub, I like Quiznos, Penn Station, and Garzelli's. My favorite is a chicken cordon blue grinder from Garzelli's. However, I usually prefer a cold sub over a warm one.

Can't say which is my favorite, but I can say Subway would be at the bottom of my list.

I have never heard of some of these places.

For a chain, I like Quizno's.

 

But some of the best sandwiches I've ever had were from the Submarine House near the corner of Brown Street and Woodland Avenue in Dayton, Ohio.

I don't know which Jimmy John's you're ordering from, I have never had a "dry" sandwich from JJ's.

 

The one I just ate today left my hands covered in oil from the Italian dressing.

 

As for the bread, maybe it's not your style. Personally, I will go in there just to buy the day olds and make my own sandwiches with them. Love the stuff.

 

Yeah my Jimmy Johns Subs were always pretty juicy, and most of the time I had no sauce on the sandwich. Hate to see someone have a bad Jimmy Johns experience because IMO it is a couple notches ahead of Subway, they put their own twist on their subs, and they deliver. Like I said, tough break on the bad experiences with the JJ's but I've never had a complaint, but again like you said their style may not be for everyone.

 

 

Again based on Subs and food a lone I would probably go Penn Station, but all around awesomeness is Jimmy Johns. I will still stand by that.

The dearly departed "Headyz in the Highlandz," on Bardstown Road here in Louisville. They had the best subs I have ever had. No place I have been to compared.

Sub Station is still around. There used to be one on Dream Street in Florence, too. I think that one has closed, but the one in Fort Wright is still open. Used to love that place, but haven't been in years.

 

 

Firehouse is my favorite. I love their subs, although they're a little pricey (aren't they all though?).

 

I also love "The Wreck" at PotBelly's. Got it with a bowl of chili the other day and both were great.

The place I mentioned was really pricey too. About $9.50 for a 12 inch sub, but it left you full the whole day.

I live about 1 minute away from Subway, so I eat there a lot.... but I love Quiznos.

I like them all but none of them can touch Jersey Mike's IMO. It is expensive but the bread is as fresh as you are going to get anywhere! It's money in the bank IMO!

I was at the one on Dream Street a couple weeks ago, mighty tasty.

 

Penn Station is my #1. It is the best place to eat at off the Richwood exit (which is where I live). Jersey Mike's isn't getting a lot of pub, but they are up there as well.

The Subways in Hopkinsville are terrible. You get exactly 3 small pieces of thin meat, two triangles of cheese, 2 tomatoes, about 5 green pepper slices, etc. They are owned by the same family and very chintzy. You also have to ask to get more than two napkins! The bread also tastes like old cardboard.

 

Give me Jersey Mike's any day!
