Newton a Cat!

Featured Replies

Let me just say that I would not be surprised to see Brian Admas from Georgia in the mix for QB time. He may have to switch to receiver, but all I hear about this kid is that he is a great fit for a spread type offense.

Brian Adams will play WR at UK and that what he was recruited as...I think he is a sleeper that could be one of the best prospects in this class for the Cats.

If it was the Summer of 69' then I might could see this. :D

However, Moss and Newton are going to be just too good. Besides, we need the help at WR, and Spread Option style QB's at UK just aren't our kind of thing. Our most successful recent QB's are Couch, Lorenzen, and Woodson. Not a lot of mobility, and not a lot of option ran from those three, however, the offense still produced.

Listened to the presser. He seems like a really well-spoken kid. I like him.

This is great news for U.K. football :ylsuper:. Maybe, just maybe the corner has been turned. The Cats still have a long way to go but imo they are now heading in the right direction with this program.

Why just a 3 star on rivals?

Super!

Love it.

I can't wait for some football.

Why just a 3 star on rivals?

He didn't do the summer camps and combines and right or wrong that is why is he isn't rated 4 stars on Rivals imo.

Even though Scout has him listed higher, I would pay closer attention to Rivals. In my opinion, their rankings are MUCH more legit than scout.

If Newton has a good senior season he should be ranked 4 stars when Rivals releases their updated rankings this fall.

I agree, just saw him on Ch 27. Great catch for the Cats.:ylsuper::ylsuper:

I like the recruit ranking service based on where they have my 'cats.

If Rivals has him as a three star and Scout as a five, I like Scout.

If Rivals has Simpson as a five star and Scout as a three, I like Rivals.

This is a great pickup for the Cats, the future looks bright.:dancingpa

I don't argue it. I think Adams will be interesting if he gets a chance to throw a ball, which I think he still will even though he was recruited as a WR as mentioned earlier and as I posted earlier.

We do need the WR depth for sure and we finally have the problem of having to find spots to get all of these great prospects on the field. :ylsuper:

:thumb: I agree as well. Newton seemed to be a very well spoken kid with emphasis on family, seemed to have a lot of class.

I love this quote from Newton in the article at TCP...

"Originally, we weren't really looking at Kentucky. We were looking at Louisville," Newton said. "We went down to Kentucky for that game, and it was a really good game, and we decided that Kentucky was a really nice place. We loved all the things that they were doing in Lexington. I never really had an order," he said. "I just really liked Kentucky."

My question is:

Why didn't he do camps and combines?

The right camps and combines are forums to improve your fundamentals and get better. The players I know who did not do camps or combines were hiding a weakness.
