No need to invent a device to prevent this as they have been in use for a number of years in police canine units. Some of the devices use a heat sensor to just honk the horn and others actually start the vehicle, turn on the A/C and roll down the windows.

Or why not just a simple device you can just go out and buy? So people that dont have a new car can have one. I was thinking what if you had a little device that was on your key chain. It would be a detector type thing. The other half would be on the childs car seat and activate when the car seat clicked. When the person got out of the car and some amount of feet away it would beep and beep getting louder until the car seat was opened.

When children fail to show up for daycare why doesn't someone at the center call the parent? If I don't show up at work and don't call in someone gets worried and calls me. Don't say they don't have time. If they are that busy I wouldn't want my kid there anyway.

I hate to be negative, but have we really gotten to the point where we need some sort of device to let us know we have a passenger in our car? What have we become?

I don't know about her, but, trust me, there are people who would knowingly leave a baby in a car all day. I have seen some of the results on children that would curl your toes. There are some people out there that are monsters....plain and simple monsters.

I think all daycares should do this as well. If someone schedules that their child is not going to be there that day its one thing but when they expect a child and they do not show they should make sure they call the parents. This would have saved this child's life there is no doubt. Not putting blame just thinking of a simple solution for future issues.

 

I think we need to punish people who deliberately do things like this but to make someone suffer more than they are over a mistake is just stupid. Sure, lets overcrowd the jails some more with a lady who is a train wreck and take her away from her 3 yr old son. Lets just take em all out back and shoot em why dont we?

 

Like I said before, 29 children this year is way too much and something needs to be done about this.

My argument is that very few people who have a desire to kill a child would have the ability to do it like this over a prolonged period. We see too many cases of boyfriends killing the child of their girlfriend but that's always out of frustration and a quick dastardly act. I just don't believe a person can sit at work all day knowing their child is slowly dying in the car. Until there is proof, I say this was a sad and deadly accident.

I totally agree, You would think some would have called to find out why the baby didn't come that day. UGHHHHH

Listen to the 911 call the mother made, moments after discovering her dead child. Her cool, detached demeanor will give you chills! It almost sounds like she's calling the auto club for a flat tire. :eek:

She was way too calm for me. I would have been a wreck and not able to talk, someone would have probably had to call for me. That is awful. Made me sick hearing her calmness.

I think many of us would respond as you describe. However, while interesting, her composure doesn't give any indication as to intent.

It was just announced that Hamilton County prosecutor Joseph Deters has decided not to pursue charges in this case.
