Is Merida expected to be the Panthers' top back this season?

 

No, Merida is defence only.

I don't think the first team backfield played any against Williamsburg and all the starters were out very early.

 

I thought Williamsburg looked better than Lynn Camp. The Wildcats struggled early against Pineville's passing game, and Williamsburg's is better.

 

I was told by a coach from Halan Co that only Freshmen and JV players played against W-burg. That would probably make a big difference in how good W-burg looked. IMO!

I thought they weren't many numbers I recognized from the first game on the field. And, Rome, Chad will NOT be defense only. He will get his touches. Trust me on this one. He may not end up being the "top" back, but he will put up numbers!

They only play 48 minutes in high school football and Central looks to be very deep in the backfield. I just don't see the touches, maybe next season Daddy Cat.

As long as he wins games, I don't care if he wears a Harlan Ind. shirt. It would be pushing it, though.

Are you coaching at KC this year? Central does have a backfield full of good backs especially #13 Dexter Carnes. However, I also hear good things about Merida and if he stays healthy I'm sure the coaches will get him the touches he earns.

Maybe you are thinking he is in his old system where he never got the ball much? He will earn and receive his carries this year.

I really don't think the Freshmen team will lose a game this year. They looked good. The good thing about this scrimmage is that we all know that the Black Bears are only gonna get better as the season goes on! They got all of their first game jitters out of the way and my guess is that next week we will witness a full on assault!:ylsuper:

Seriously we need to set a time and place to meet to head across the mountain to tailgate. Game starts at 7:30, I'm guessing school gets out or at least the parking lot is clear by 3:30 or 4:00. What time do we need to get there? Remember on the game thread the LCC people said the parking lot feels up pretty quick! I think it will get the team fired up if when they arrive they see a bunch of Black Bear Fans already in the parking lot! Lets get serious and plan this.

How many touches did he get at South Laurel? What system does KC run? I do not see many Division 1 College Programs line up in 3 backs any more.. Is that the system a kid like that would help transition to the college level?

Trust me, it's going to be very hard for Chad to get as many carries as he did in 07 while at SLHS. He was a Freshman in 06, wasn't talking about that season. Are you sure I don't know the Knox Central staff very well.:laugh:
