Question for the people close to the Knox Central program, is Jake Slusher still playing?

 

 

He's not listed on this roster but I think it's from last year.

So how will this work? Will there be 3 games that night? Will one team play twice?

 

Well, our offense (Knox Central) will get to play Harlan and Williamsburg's defense, then our defense will get to play Harlan and Williamsburg's offense, then they will get to play each other in between all of that.

I really like the idea of having the rosters posted on the KHSAA scoreboard site.

 

I did however notice something that should be there. On the KC roster, they have three 8th graders listed and if I'm not mistaken, an 8th grader isn't allowed to play high school football. I could be wrong on this but I thought that rule in KY went into place shortly after the Johnson's (Dennis and Derrick) played in the state finals for Harrodsburg for a few plays at the end of a game when they were in like the 3rd and 4th grades respectively.

I noticed that also, some teams have not updated the roster yet, and those 8th graders are now 9th graders. Raceland's is the same way, but I know those are now 9th graders, and there are not any seniors listed.

The 3 way scrimmages are h-o-r-r-i-b-l-e! Why have one for the Grid game? The head-to-head games are so much better.

 

Not sure anything could be done, Williamsburg just got into this late after finding out they were not scrimmaging either one, I guess it is KC and HC just being grateful or else W-burg would'nt have had a scrimmage. It was supposed to be just two teams, until Monday.

The way it will work is, initially, Knox and Harlan Co. will scrimmage for 20 minutes. Then Williamsburg will scrimmage Harlan Co. for 20 minutes. And finally Williamsburg and Knox will have a situational-type scrimmage (in other words, they may run a few plays in the red zone or anywhere else) Burg & Knox won't be a timed scrimmage like the previous two.

LC and Pineville will play 20 minute halves, by what the LC staff has told me.

Kickoff is 6:45 for the first game, is it not?

I ran across the roster the other day and I like it to. I don't think I've ever seen that before.

 

As for the 8th graders, it's an old roster. I know the kids listed as jrs. are this year's seniors.

Casey, you seem to be close to the KC program, could you tell me if Jake Slusher is still playing? The reason I ask, I watched him play for Bell middle, and he was extremely fast to be an 8th grader, and was just wondering if he was still with the KC program and if he's doing alright there?

While we're at it, when, if ever, is an 8th grader allowed in a HS game? Can they play in freshmen games? How about JV?

It only says Varsity.

 

Bylaw 4 Enrollment

d) Pupils in grades 1-8 may play on the high school team if such

participation is not in confl ict with Section © above, and the

time so played shall not be counted on the eight (8) semester

limit. EXCEPTION: Students below grade nine (9) may not

participate on the varsity team in contests in the sports of

football or soccer, and students enrolled below grade seven

(7) may not participate on the varsity level in wrestling. The

provisions of this restriction shall not apply to non-varsity teams

participating in these sports.

That is what it looks like to me, unless there has been some additional ruling, 8th graders are only excluded from varsity competition. If it was different I would think that the Bylaw would say something like "excluded form competition at any high school level".

 

Plus, it plainly says that "this provision may not apply to non-varsity sports".
