MCIT Brackets

I had heard that St.Patrick and Bracken County were no longer scheduling Mason County or playing in this tournament, guess the money trumps the getting blown out by 40 points. Augusta and Deming have never played in this tournament, can't understand why Bracken is still a participant.

You have your information wrong again. Mason Co. does not want to schedule Bracken Co. Bracken Co. wanted to set up a up a scrimmage game with Mason but was turned down. You don't get any better sitting at home!!:irked:

THIS IS NOT A TRUE STATEMENT... AS A PLAYER FOR AUGUSTA, I PLAYED IN THE MCIT

^ Augusta was in the MCIT. But I do not consider them "regulars".

Don't remember Augusta or Deming in this tournament, can anyone provide any information on when these 2 played in the MCIT?

Augusta played in 1984, 1993, 1994 and Deming played in 1979, 1980, 1982, 1995 and 1996. Also for the old timers, this tourney was named Burley Belt Invitational until 1985 when it was named the MCIT.

Coach Kelsch (Larry Bird look alike) is correct as he played in 1994 and scored 10 points. Someone told me he shot like 45 times that game!!!:laugh:

CCHS only lost their point guard. Their top scorers are back. This should be a competitive tournament, but Mason will still be the odds on favorite. Its hard to say that Mason is rebuilding after the loss of Darius, thye just re-load. Though Clark Co. is the best team on paper in the 10th, Mason will always put themselves in the thick of things. Campbell County will be better, but is still rebuilding. Never count out Brossart, but now they have lost two key coaches in two years, so it's not just rebuilding the talent, but meshing the coaches together as well. Deming will be the sleeper. Very solid underclassmen. The twins may be the best sophmores in the state.

Who did Brossart lose on the coaching staff? Rowe?

Thanks Sumo, so this will be Deming's first appearance in 12 years, must want to showcase the King's in The Fieldhouse. Augusta only 3 times ever shows why never remembered them in this tourney. Can you tell me how many times Deming or Augusta even played in The Fieldhouse, period? Is it even in double figures? Thanks

Augusta has played in the Fieldhouse 18 times. Mason has played them 9 times and Augusta has played in the Regional tourney against other teams 9 times. Deming has played 23 times with 14 against Mason. Mason has played Deming twice in the District and twice in the Region. Deming has played another team nine times in the Regional tourney at the Fieldhouse. The Fieldhouse opened on January 15, 1965 against Ripley, Ohio.

Skunk, those comments stink!!!!!!!!

I think the only loss, although a very big one, was longtime JV coach Bob Rowe. I believe he's being replaced by former Freshman assistant and former player Curtis Bezold; while everyone else is staying in place from what I'd heard. I'm sure Mustang can update any other staff changes.

It's a shame MMI still doesn't have a school anymore.

Pretty weak field. Mason Co. should win easily. Would have thought they would have had a more competitive tournament with some bigger names.

I'm not a lifer in Maysville or even Kentucky for that matter, but the last few years, hasn't this tournament essentially been a smaller version of the 10th region? I mean it normally seems to be just 10th region teams.

Have always said with the facilites that the MCIT should be a tournament along the lines of the 5th 3rd or the one at Bourbon County. The Fieldhouse has never, ever been utilized the way it should for major tournaments, don't know who is responsible, but a shame. A 5000 seat arena and you can't get big name in state or out of state teams to come for tournaments???

Daddy has a couple of comments on this thread.

1. Glad to see Deming playing in this one. I for one like the local schools playing in the fieldhouse. :thumb:

2. The King twins are decent ball players but I wouldn't put them as top in the state or even in the 10th region.

3. The fieldhouse does attract top teams to play each year. Examples Scott Co., Lexington Catholic, Elliott County & Bryan Station last year. They just don't use the MCIT for that purpose. Maybe they like inviting the locals? Who knows.

4. It looks like Daddy has something to do on New Year's Day versus taking down Christmas decorations!:thumb:

5. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't I read on here somewhere in the past that Mason Co. had joined some sort of coalation? Maybe the weather wasn't the only reason for skipping out on the Lexington Catholic Tourny. Anyone know for sure?
