He made the leap onto the national scene with his performance at the Chris Sailer Nike Top 12 camp in Las Vegas in 2007 where he ranked third. He’s currently listed as the number six kicker and number three punter/kicker combo after attending a Ray Guy Prokicker.com camp in Kansas City.

In my opinion he is better already than what they have there right now.

Very happy to see this, seeing him in the halls at school great kid, very smart also. I'm glad to see he's finally getting some big time looks, watching him kick is like he's got a cannon in his leg, Very excited to see where he ends up, hopefully UK offers.

 

Personally, I'd love to see him stay in blue, and I think he could come in next year and start at all kicking positions. He has a great work ethic, performs well under pressure, intelligent on the field. I truly hope he succeeds, as I'd love to see a Bobcat playing on Sundays in the future.

Garrard County opens the season with Bell County in a couple weeks. I saw him last year against Lincoln County and was very impressed. I look forward to seeing him again.:thumb:

It would be a shame if UK does not come after this kid. I always felt they did not pay enough attention to in state FB players. Specifically in the SE part of the state! Come on UK we love you down here too!

Did you see him kick at Bell County 2 years ago? I'm referring to the kid from Knoxville Central. He is still the 2nd best kicker I've ever seen, just behind Aaron Petry. Kicking at the college level is completely different, no block, more pressure, etc. I'm sure Merrick will do good wherever he ends up hopefully in Blue, but do not dismiss UK's current kicker because of last year.

What about the kid from Middlesboro several years ago? 1998. Can't remember his name, but he was the best I have seen in person. Granted, I've not seen that many great kickers.

Oh I am not at all just hate to see him end up playing against UK.

Not the top programs! They usually reserve a scholarship for a punter or kicker in each recruiting class.
