August 7, 200818 yr This was written on April 5th.:lol::lol: Reds outfielder Corey Patterson is off to a decent start, showing signs of power and patience. Many credit Dusty Baker for handing him the starting job, but I also think it is because he is familiar with the National League. He has hit two homeruns in the past three days and has driven in three, giving the Reds two wins out of three. I wouldn't say it is only him, but he is definitely a key part of the offense. Will Patterson hit .300 with 20 HR like many thought he would when the Cubs drafted him? Probably not, but putting up a .270 batting average with 15 homeruns and 30-40 SB is likely, and would help this team a lot. http://mlb-rumors.blogspot.com/2008/04/is-corey-patterson-ready-to-breakout_05.html
August 7, 200818 yr Does anyone know if Dusty has a daughter? My wife heard that he was dating her, if so, maybe he has some dirty photos of Baker. At least he tore it up for about a week in April.
August 7, 200818 yr Anyone. Flippin' Arroyo has a better chance of getting on the sacks, put him out there between starts, he already runs the bases when needed. Oh, that was you I was sitting next to if you were the one with the Dusty Baker jersey on and your eyes closed. Cute way of avoidiing the question. Still waiting.....
August 7, 200818 yr How about Chris Dickerson, currently at AAA Louisville. Dickerson is 6'3'' 225 and left handed. In 94 games, he's hitting .286 with a .385 On-base %, 9 triples, 11 HR and 26 SB. He's also drawn 53 walks, although he's struck out 99 times. Worth a shot.
August 7, 200818 yr Only Andrew Jones has a lower batting average of players this year with 200 or more at bats
August 7, 200818 yr How about Drew Anderson, who is listed as a LF for the Bats. Surely he could play CF, or move Bruce to CF and have Anderson play right. Anderson is hitting .290 with 7 HR, 7 3B and a .328 On-Base%.
August 7, 200818 yr Drew Stubbs is still a year or two away, but I'd rather have him in the lineup than Corey Patterson. At least Stubbs will be gaining valuable experience.
August 8, 200818 yr You guys are just bitter Cub fans ... Doubt it. Take it from this (diehard/lifelong) Cubs fan as bad as I hated to see him get injured and put on the shelf a few years ago is as bad as I hope he never wears a Cubs uni ever again. Patterson was great and had an MVP type season until he went down for the remainder of the season a few years ago. Since then he hasn't been much to brag about. Sad, for such a good player, but whether it comes down to not being able to bounce back from injury, or just a lack of dedication to improve after the injury, the fact of the matter is Patterson is not even 1/4 the player he was before he went down a few years ago. Thats why you will never likely see any bitter Cubs fans (even if it was only a joke) about Patterson not being a Cub anymore.
August 8, 200818 yr Only Andrew Jones has a lower batting average of players this year with 200 or more at bats Braves really saw this one coming didn't they. What once was perhaps the best CF in the game has reduced to just a shell of his aging self. They look a lot smarter to have practically packed his bags for him once his contract ran out now that it is common assumption he may never get back anywhere close to where he was even just a couple years ago.

August 8, 200818 yr I'm not,,,,Patterson sucks. Has no business in the show. I wasn't a terrific Dusty fan, but now am not for sure. Send Patterson packing and give a AA kid a shot. Can't be worse. None of the "you suck" cliche's are even bad enough to fit him, you know,,,,couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat......couldn't hit a bull in the butt with a base fiddle.......couldn't hit a beachball with a boat oar.....you get the picture. SD - I wish you'd stop beating around the bush and just tell us how you really feel about Patterson :thumb::lol::ylsuper:

August 8, 200818 yr Anyone is the best you could come up with? Who on the ML roster right now is a better option? No one has yet to answer this question. Sounds like you guys need to be bashing Jocketty instead of Dusty, Ibelieve hes the one responsible for callups and whatnot. If our best option is at Louisville then it's not Dusty's fault he's not here. I'm not sold on Dusty either but I'm a realistic fan who realizes there aren't many better options here, if any.

If the Braves had seen it coming, they would have traded him after the 2006 season. They were as surprised by his quick decline as anyone else. They just had the good sense to let the Dodgers throw money at him.
