Would you take Favre?

I am a Jet fan and I want Favre on my team!

That's like saying "Do you want a living legend on your team?" If not for his talent then for his knowledge he could pass on.

If you're a team in dying need of a QB and don't want Favre then you should be fired...

I dunno who wouldn't want Favre, if they were in need of a QB..That would be just dumb!

I don't know if I would give a 1st rounder for him unless it was a team that had a realistic shot to win it all...

I think it depends on the team. The Pats and Colts don't need him. Somebody like the Bucs, Vikings, Packers + maybe even the Bears (not as close as the other two) are close enough to the Super Bowl that he very well might be that one missing piece.

If I'm the Chiefs and I'm totally rebuilding then no unless I get him for nothing. The Panthers and Ravens might give it some thought.

Let's not forget the guy was the MVP runner up in his league last year! It's not like he is not playing at a high level.

What I was thinking.

I don't know about your last part. By many accounts I've read, Favre didn't exactly embraced the role of mentor for Rodgers, which leads me to believe he likely wouldn't do it for anyone else.

That said, if I had a team ready for contention where all I needed was a quality QB, it's a no-brainer to take him.

Who wouldn't? He still has gas in the tank and he will fill the empty seats.

Packers simply have to move on and can't handle his flip flopping.

I certainly agree Sv, Like stick pointed out, the only teams that may not have need for Favre are the Pats and Colts.

Let's say an experienced, legenadary, arguably one of if not the best QB to ever play the game was available and you didn't want him.......Well, that would make you every bit as dumb as say.....Ted Thompson. :D

You are right... but to be fair to the Pack he did retire. They invested a 1st round pick in a QB and a 2nd this past year. They can't commit to Rodgers then fire him.. that won't do well for his confidence. The only thing that worries me or should worry the Pack is Rodgers has some durability questions, but they do have Brohm.

It's sad how it all went down and how it will be remembered but Farve also should bare some of the blame for flip flopping. As the saying goes "one man's trash is another man's treasure." The Bucs found a piece of gold.

:thumb: I agree that Favre definately deserves part of the blame. Both are to blame, I just feel that Thompson has wanted Favre out ever since he drafted Rodgers. Maybe not, he just seems to me like one that wants to put his stamp on everything and throw his power around to make sure that everyone knows that "he's the man" regardless of how it effects the team.

Anyway, I am still a Packer fan and still a Favre fan, good luck to both.

I honestly think that Ted really just wants Favre to retire and stay retired... They want to move on and Favre does and then doesn't...It's not fair to the organization...

It's possible that he just didn't care for Rodgers, especially considering that they drafted him just to take Favre's place. If the guy is talking about coaching at the HS, or College level then I'd say he's all about being a mentor.

I think it's both of their faults. Farve has been on the fence a lot but I also think he was lied to a lot + pressure put on him to retire this year. They also planted stuff like offering him a chance to come back in April or so.

Both sides are to blame somewhat IMO. It's so worn out but such a big story. I like the Packers and Farve will always be one of my all time favorites. I think the Packers made a big mistake letting him go this year but I understand their rationale. I don't agree with it but understand it. Bottome line when they let him go, both sides need to move on and not look back IMO. Farve isn't a mentor either. I think it's hard on both sides seeing him go somewhere else but it's happened many times in the NFL and will happen again. The difference with Farve IMO from the other greats is that he is playing at such a high level still.
