Well look at Central they always have blinding fast speed compared to Cov Cath. Last year they were the only team who gave Highlands a run for the money, Cov Cath not so much. I respect your opinion but I will have to agree to disagree.

What will a couple of weeks prove? Surely, you wouldn't base much on a preseason scrimmage...Some teams really put alot of effort in winning them, while others prefer to try various personnel and sets and experiment with things...I don't think much at all can be gauged on a scrimmage even if the score were 30-0...

 

It proves alot if your team can't move the ball against a team regardless of experimentation.

I think your point is certainly valid for the first week scrimmages, but in the second scrimmage, most coaches really want to try to simulate game time situations. I'm sure that if there are big question marks remaining at certain positions the coach will still be experimenting with personnel, but I'd think that 90% of the starters are set by the time of the second scrimmage.

I'm going to question this being Redman has been quoted as saying that he treats non district games as scrimmages. If he treats regular season games as scrimmages why would he treat his scrimmages more intensely?

Yeah, but all of Male's non-district games aren't Highlands!!!!! I have been to just about every meeting between the 2 the last 10 years and believe me, both schools play like it is a playoff game. Bob Redman knows who he is matching up against and so does Dale Mueller. Can't wait for 2 weeks!!!!

It's funny you say that, because I was thinking the same thing when I was reading about the St.X (OH) scrimmage @ Northmont on another site.

Well, regardless of how Highlands' fans regard the outcome of this scrimmage after the fact, the recent history shows that when HHS does well (and "wins") this HHS-Male scrimmage the Bluebirds have gone on to win state. In 2004 HHS beat Male in the scrimmage, as they did in 2007. This wasn't the case in 2005 and 2006.
