August 3, 200818 yr The Cincinnati Bengals and first-round pick Keith Rivers are still "far apart" in contract negotiations, a source told ESPN.com Sunday. Rivers, the No. 9 overall pick in April's NFL draft, has missed the entire first week of training camp with Cincinnati. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3517510
August 3, 200818 yr I started a thread on this early last week, I am worried about the situation. If he don't get in this week, and doesn't look like he will, it will basically be a lost season. He will never catch up.
August 3, 200818 yr Don't surprise me none, for us Cincinnati Reds and Bengals fans the seasons just continue to be brutal!!!!!!!!!:mad::mad::mad:
August 3, 200818 yr I know the Bengals aren't the only team that have a hard time signing first round picks somtimes, but how often has this happened to Cincinnati?
August 3, 200818 yr The same happened with Pollack a few years back, it worked out. This situation should be resolved soon.
August 4, 200818 yr Its just annoying that it ALWAYS happens to the Bengals. My memory is not great but I don't remember many of the last 6 or so picks missing significant camp time.
August 4, 200818 yr It's tough because of where he was picked at #9. The Bengals want to offer him close to #10 money but he's looking more around #7ish.
August 4, 200818 yr Come on, take your millions upon millions of dollars to play a game and get into camp. But it is giving good exposure and reps to Brandon Johnson, he has been looking good it sounds like.
August 4, 200818 yr Come on, take your millions upon millions of dollars to play a game and get into camp. But it is giving good exposure and reps to Brandon Johnson, he has been looking good it sounds like. Carson claims Johnson is the MVP of camp so far. True or is he trying to send a message to Rivers?
August 4, 200818 yr Ask David Pollack how important it was to hold out for that last little bit he got of guaranteed money.
August 4, 200818 yr This is exactly why when I said I was a Bengals fan in a fantasy draft tonight everyone said they felt sorry for me and said they respected me for admitting it.
August 4, 200818 yr Carson claims Johnson is the MVP of camp so far. True or is he trying to send a message to Rivers? Who is Brandon Johnson?
August 4, 200818 yr Ask David Pollack how important it was to hold out for that last little bit he got of guaranteed money. Already discussed this one earlier, but it's the truth. These guys get one shot to prove themselves, and it's still at LB which the Bengals habve struggled at. I respect the guy, hoestly he'd be dumb if he didn't hold out a bit. Now if this goes into regular season then he's a dumb jerk, but I don't see that happening,
