Not at all but from the dugout, their is perspective that can't be seen. The dip/drive method, often can't be detected from the side but the CF camera, will reveal a lot of foot positions, hand/release points and balance, which can't be seen from the side. This may be a windup taught to Bailey, by those who know what they are doing but to me, his balance is off, as a result of his locked lower body and it's affecting his release. plus ability to drive.

I would agree that a dugout angle isn't going to give us the insight we can get from a CF camera. BUT isn't that a pitching coaches job to look at every possible angle? It does come down to the player being willing to listen, work and change and we have certainly heard stuff that Homer has had problems listening at times. To answer your original question, it's stuff I wouldn't notice. The small things that make up a delivery I would never notice unless it was pointed out to me.

August 8, 200818 yr On the observations about pitching mechanics, don't the Reds (and their pitching coach) have access to videotape, much of it what we see on television? Some very instructional points have been made in this thread about helping certain Reds pitchers, but unless we can verify Dick Pole is a bona fide BPG-er, don't know that the constructive critiques are of much help. Brantlely jabbers about it a lot (and the observation has been made on more than one occasion, that if HE can see it from the radio booth, then what do the coaches see from the dugout...in the bullpen...during practices...watching video, etc.????) This team is as about as low ebb as a functioning 'team' can be and still show up for the games on the schedule. They are about exciting as a dull butter knife cutting through warm butter. Jeeeeeesh!
August 8, 200818 yr Even the nice guys Chris Welsh and George Grande are teeing off on the goofy base running stunt Jay Bruce just commited. Thrown out at third on a left side hit ground ball to short for inning's first out. Welsh claims 12-year old players don't make that play. Questions if Dusty Baker is going to have to start from scratch 'around here'? Nice observations, but did Chris and George just take off their sunglasses at night? Been going on since Day One.:eek:
August 8, 200818 yr I said back in the spring this would be one of the worst baserunning teams Reds fans have seen. It's one of the fundamentals that get lost with Dusty's teams.
August 8, 200818 yr Chrissy was making comments about the Reds looking deflated/quitting after Houston went up 5-0. It took them long enough to notice the obvious. I can only imagine how tough it is to keep playing when the season is over and you aren't really playing for anything. But just ridiculous the way they are losing recently. It's one thing to get beat by the better team, but this Reds just doesn't look like they even care.
