Track The Reds (Week 19)

Featured Replies

Bronson Arroyo characterized August baseball for the Cincinnati Reds in his pre-game

television interview with Chris Welsh, saying this (the losing; lack of pennant race;

breakdown of the team) has happened every year since he's been here. Sad to say,

it has happened for several seasons preceding Arroyo's arrival.

I agree with all except "all of sudden". 8 years is not all of sudden. :thumb:

True, just meant three weeks ago they were 3 games under .500 is watchable. Now, not so much. Don't get me wrong, I didn't get my hopes up or nothing.

In past years, the team still gave effort. Now, they don't even do that.

No they didn't.

I am glad that today's game isn't on TV. Listened to the 2nd inning on the radio on the drive home, and heard Berkman's home run. Came in to watch and I can't find it on TV...THANK YOU SO MUCH

This team still has plenty of talent - as bad as this year has gotten, this team still has a lot of promise for the future. Let's not forget that.

Hopefully we can work out a deal with somebody to trade Ross. I'd prefer to keep Ross over Bako, but at this point I'll take whatever they're willing to give up for either one of them.

I like the fact that we sent Homer down. He's had some bad breaks, but I think it'll be easier to control his pitch count & innings thrown in the minors. And there he can work on developing pitches and hopefully string a few good outings together. Like it or not, Homer Bailey is a big part of the future for the Reds. Writing him off at the age of 22 is just silly. I understand the frustration that comes from losing, but let's continue to build on what we have instead of writing off the future.

If Harang has a few poor starts, I'd recommend putting him on the shelf and giving him extra rest.

^ It's on FSN

Wow, it is. And we're down 8-0. :irked:

I went through the schedule and couldn't find it. Interesting. I'd rather watch the Olympics.

See this is the blind optimism that runs rampant on here. I have seen posts very similar to this the past couple of years after it is clear the team is again headed no where. You speak of what we have to build on, well that will be a very shaky building. This team has a few young players with promise. A couple of good pitchers, and that is it! They are not close to competing for a playoff spot. That is at least 2 years away with a massive roster overhaul.

Good move:thumb:

Maybe Harang is trying to catch Cueto in the race of most HR's allowed.

I'd give Harang one more start. If he does poorly again, he should be shut down the rest of the year.

Yes. No reason to keep him going now.:thumb:

I finish watching a movie, turn on the game to see this. :scared:

Just unbelievable, 2-14 with the loss today in their last 16 or something like that.

No they didn't.

I disagree, I thought the team played hard for Pete last year. And for Narron the year he stepped in as interim...

Wait a minute, they only play hard for interim managers.

That was the pattern for a few years, play well to end the year. The manager gets signed on for next year and the Reds stink it up. That guy gets fired, Reds play well for the new manager, he gets signed on the next year. Etc, etc.

Just sad, sad.
