How does a Christian (not talking society but a Christian) handle the Scripture in which God says that before we were in the womb he knew us? Do you ignore it or can you justify that Scripture as a Christian with your stance that abortion is not taking a life?

 

I view the abortion debate as two different arguments.

 

You have the non-Christian debate about whether it is a life or not.

 

But then you have the Christian debate where God is clear that the baby is a life that He knew before we even reached the womb.

 

And yet, there is a whole host of Christians that put a society's view in front of God's view. And I don't understand that at all.

 

I am supposed to deny myself to follow Christ but this seems as Christians putting their societal view in front of what I believe is clear that Christ would not be for killing unborn babies.

 

LBBC, I have often wondered the same thing myself . . . I simply do not see how true Christians can ignore scripture that is so plain ----or by ignoring the issue and not standing against it give their "silent" approval of murder of the unborn. :confused:

Coach .... All I got to say and I say this in respect to you ...... I have always been taught if you disagree with something yet do not oppose it ... then you in a sense support it.

 

There is no riding the fence when it comes to the affairs of the heart. We either are against or for ... There is no in between. It's either black or white. It can't be both. IMO

 

 

How about the parable of the plank and the speck? I know that my conviction is that I would never want to be party to an abortion. However, there are many things I need to worry about cleaning up in my own life before I need to worry about judging others actions and beliefs. Just because I don't believe I should impose my beliefs on others, doesn't mean I support their actions.

I support some kind of punishment ... I don't know exactlly what. This is premeditated murder after all isn't it ?

As a Christian, I support a woman's right to choose. Because at judgement I don't have to answer for that mistake. Now some folks will say I don't have a stance because I am on both sides. But I ask who am I to judge? All I can do is try and help women who want an abortion find alternative ways. But I am not going to shame them if they have one.

 

I also say life is at conception.

 

That sounds crazy to me. Could you also not say that as a Christian, I support a person's right to choose to commit murder, rape, etc. Because at judgement I don't have to answer for that mistake.

I have not posted on this thread until now, but am VERY strongly opposed to abortion. I have counseled a few girls who have struggled with what choice to make over the years. It is a very difficult decision, but I believe that the only real choice to make is what God wants.

 

My priest years ago brought a young lady to meet our youth group when I was in high school. This young lady helped me cement my belief in what was right/wrong on this matter. She had been raped and was impregnated by this rapist when she was 17. Her parents insisted that she quietly get an abortion. After all, how could she carry the child of a rapist? She would be reminded daily of what had happened to her, they said. She thought and prayed about it and decided to have the baby and put it up for adoption after delivery. But when her child was born, she could not part with it. Her quote was "At that moment and every moment since, I truly understood God's love for me. Only through God's love could something so wrong as my being raped produce something so perfect as my child. I would never have forgotten what happened to me with or without my child. But that child is a daily reminder of God's love for me. That child helped me deal with what happened. "

Using your logic we should not be against murder, rape or any other crime as long as I have a plank in my eye.

go into a public place and urinate

yell fire in a crowded place

become a prostitute and do what I want with my body

drugs and inject what I want into my body.

(notice in those last two, society, government is telling me what I can and cannot do with my own body.)

Taking a human life at any age is wrong. If you believe that a baby in the womb is indeed a human, then abortion is murder, plain and simple. From the time that Roe v Wade made abortion legal, it seems that as a society, we began to devalue human life at it's earliest stages.

One, God did not say that, a writer said it, and while many may view it as literal, if you go that far then you know that God knew that person was going to die anyway. Just their time.

 

What you are suggesting is that God knew us before we were conceived. Therefore birth control is wrong b/c that keeps us from being conceived.
