Speaking of not knowing a word Bob says, here is a great parody by Weird Al. I didn't even know about this video til recently, It is a song done completely in palindromes.

 

Weird Al has killed me with this one. I've laughed myself blue. After watching this one I started watching more of Weird Al's YouTube skits....for over an hour. That guy is hilarious. "Like A Surgeon", "Eat It", etc.. As Barney Fife once said, "He's a nut.":lol:

 

BTW, I'm a fan of Dylan too. His singing is a unique style, no doubt, but it's his song writing ability that carries him.

As to the thread, Dylan is excellent. Heard "Like a Rolling Stone" when I was very young and have been a fan ever since.

Pretty good comparsion, but I think Petty has better vocals. I'm a fan of Petty too.

I am a fan of Bob Dylan's lyrical ability...not so much his singing,but it DOES kinda grow on you as time passes. He is one of the greatest lyricists in history. 'Tangled up in Blue' and 'Lay Lady Lay' are my two favorites done by him. Hendrix and The Birds made 'All Along the Watchtower' and 'Mr. Tambourine Man',respectively,their own with their recordings.

I am Dylan fan as well although country music is about I listen to anymore. I am not crazy about his voice but I like his style and as others have said his writing is great. I haven't listened to any Dylan for quite a while though. Thanks for the link above.lol.:thumb:

"Highway 61 Revisited", "Blonde On Blonde". "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan", "Bringing It All Back Home", "Another Side Of Bob Dylan", and "Blood On The Tracks" would all rank in my Top 25 Albums of all time.

Thanks again to XgradROCKdad for hooking my brother and I up with tickets for last night's show at the recently renamed Horseshoe Casino. :thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb:

 

It was an outstanding show, clocking in at right at two hours, which is very surprising for a casino show (which tend to be a max of about 1 1/2 hours, and usually closer to an hour).

 

Also surprisingly, Dylan's song selection trended more toward tunes from his recent albums as well as a few older deep album cuts, rather than one big greatest hits show, which tend to be what you get at casino shows. And the big hits he did play departed considerably from the radio/album versions, which was very refreshing.

 

In other words, it was more a concert for true Dylan fans than casual ones who only own the greatest hits CDs. Which made it right up my alley!

I've always found that to be a good policy.

I'm a Bob Dylan fan. Have been for 4 or 5 years.

 

If you listen to enough Dylan, eventually you'll give in and like it. You can't just write him off after the first song.

 

Like many others have said, it's all about the words Dylan's singing, not how well he sings them.
