"John F." Obama?

Featured Replies

Barack Obama is making, what his campaign is labeling, a "major speech" today in Berlin. You may recall that John F. Kennedy made one of his most famous speeches in that same city. It has been said that the Obama's campaign is positioning him as the second coming of Jack Kennedy. This speech seems to lend credence to that claim.

The question is this: First, do you think that is what the Obama campaign is doing. Second, are the parallels valid? Is Barack Obama the John F. Kennedy of this generation -- or do we need to call in (the late) Lloyd Benson to set him straight? ;)

Hopefully Obama lowers taxes on the rich like JFK did, because he is holding the exact opposite stance from JFK on that issue.

BF, that's exactly what I was thinking. Barack and the media are trying to portray Obama as the new JFK. And don't forget, JFK was the first Catholic elected.

I watched a good deal of this speech. It was for the most part pretty good but I thought the CNN commentators were going to need a cigarette after it ended.

Let's not forget Caroline Kennedy has said that Senator Obama reminds her of her dad.

With all due respect to Caroline, how old was she when her father was killed and how much does she actually remember about her father?

Was this speech planned prior to McCain challenging Obama about never having been to Afghanistan and Iraq?

Caroline turned 6 just 5 days after her father's assassination.

So are you saying she's not telling the truth?

No I'm just questioning how much a child that loses her father at age 6 (thanks for the help) can actually remember about him and how much she is relying on what other people have told her about him.

It's also fairly accepted that JFK was a philanderer, could that be the trait she is refering to?

If that is what you want to believe.

Oh, I wish he could ....I have just about heard all I want to hear from him (Obama) and about him.:irked:

I'm going to start praying now for all of you who may wind up with apoplectic shock when/if Obaman wins.

And yes, I'll ask Mary to pray for all of you too! :D
