No. They lost in the semi-finals to Belfry. I believe Owensboro won the state the next week vs. Belfry.

 

It was a tough game between the two and the "lonely end" play was the "back breaker" vs. Cawood. When Danville got to Newport the next week it had rained all week and the field was a sloppy mess. (Naturally done though ) Newport had a strong team, bottled up the Ads and won by two TD's I think.

Hear me out. Danville was on a 42 game winning streak and two time defending AA champ. This Ads team was considered the best of that four year run by everyone who saw those teams play. They beat the 4A runner-up and the 3A runner-up that season. They were as fast an offense as any KHSAA field has seen.

 

P'burg pulled the upset by one point in OT and halted the Ads streak. If Danville pulls that game out the streak would have very likely hit 59 as the Admirals went 15-0 the next year and the Blue would have four straight titles to go along with it before Beechwood and Boyle turned the trick.

 

There is without a doubt conjecture here. Mayfield always played Danville tough but with the way the Ads had "their number" in that period it's probably Danville would have won the AA matchup on turf.

I recall 2 more backbreaking plays in that game. Wish I could forget them! Remember being relieved that the ADS got knocked out!

I actually enjoyed that game. Down late 20 - 7, CovCath rallies for a 21 - 20 win. Good times.

 

I played in that game too. Actually it was 7 and some change left in the game and our coaches decided to play a little prevent defense and you guys ran draw after draw and draw. And then you beat us with a 2 point conversion for the win.:mad: I watch the tape very often only to consume large quanities of Grandaddy's cough medicine to ease the pain. But it never works!!!!!!!

Middlesboro vs. Beechwood--- State semi's --- How long was Beechwoods winning streak when they came into Middlesboro that year? It had to be one of the longest winning streaks ever! It had to be 30 or more game winning streak! Could someone find that info, I wouldn't know where to start!

They had 38 according to the KHSAA which ranks 4th all time.

1995 was his Senior year. I remember watching the playoff game at Highlands when ESPN flew in their helicopter.
