July 19, 200818 yr Hope is born anew in Cincinnati. Arroyo is over .500 (8-7). Adam Dunn displayed he can play defense by throwing out 59 year old Fernando Tatis trying to stretch a single into a double. Brandon Phillips simply put on a show with his glove at second base. The Reds live to fight another day. And, then the next day. And, then the next day...it's a very long grind for the Reds to make a move in the NL Central. Reds Hall of Fame night. Larkin, Geronimo, Gary Hermann (real old school for the Reds) and one of the coolest names in Reds history, Joey Jay, pitching stud from the early 60's. :thumb:
July 19, 200818 yr I hope Arroyo's outing impressed scouts enough to strike a deal with the Reds. Thats what the Reds need to do, give away good pitching.
July 19, 200818 yr Thats what the Reds need to do, give away good pitching. Are the Reds going to make it to the playoffs this year? As much as I would like to say yes, I don't see it. So, if they can get a good prospect for Bronson, they will make the trade. IMO
July 19, 200818 yr I guess the Mets aren't the greatest team in the history of baseball, I didn't think they were going to lose a game the rest of the year the way all the "media" people were talking. Arroyo has now had 2 good outings after 2 bad outings. That doesn't bode well for his next couple starts, we are going to get a 3 inning effort here soon.
July 19, 200818 yr Author RHP Jared Burton today went on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to 7/11, with a strained right latissimus muscle. RHP Todd Coffey (#56) has been recalled from Class AAA Louisville.

RHP Todd Coffey (#56) has been recalled from Class AAA Louisville. That sucks for Burton, and the Reds. I'm not certain what the latissimus is, but I believe it's near the armpit area. At least it's not a tear, and hopefully he comes back full strenth. Can this Team ever have all their pitchers healthy? :irked:

RHP Todd Coffey (#56) has been recalled from Class AAA Louisville. While the Reds don't really have a choice and have to bring him back up, I'm wondering how long it's going to be before he implodes, gives up several runs and blows a game. While every reliever is going to have a bad day or two, Coffey has found a new way to suck more with each and every inning pitched.
July 19, 200818 yr Is Coffey the best they could call up? Why no Roenicke? He hasn't even pitched that well down there.
July 19, 200818 yr They could be showcasing him for a trade. If he pitches well, he's gone. Then again, if he pitches bad, he may still be gone if the Reds get prospects in a trade and need the roster room.

If so, they could have scouted him at AAA.
July 19, 200818 yr The Cubs did the same thing with Murton and Patterson. No one could explain why they disabled two pitchers and brought up two outfielders until they were dealt to Oakland a few weeks later. July is a time when you see some odd roster moves because of the anticipated shuffling the trading deadline can bring. Like I said, if Coffey pitches well, he could be moved. If not, he could be shown the door without having to lose any options on another minor leaguer being called up. Either that, or Dusty is having Neifi Perez withdrawls.....
