8th Region 2008-09

I do not think that we should underestimate Spencer Co. either. With Shelby having a re-building year, they may well be strong in their district.

Grant returns some strong players also. If you look at the districts, you never know how they might end up seeded. Anderson will be strong but they lost a lot of really talented shooters.

Yeah in the 32nd the 2 seed is wide open.;)

I believe Gallatin did not lose anybody!

What's the word regarding new players coming into the varsity ranks -- who are the move-ins and/or young players who are likely to step up strongly from the junior varsity and middle school ranks this season?

Since the region seems to be wide open and there was significant graduation, much will depend on the contributions of these newcomers. It has been interesting to note that several teams that have gone the Sweet-16 the past few years have had numerous underclassmen on the roster. Even though it doesn't seem likely for that to happen in the 8th this year, it is not totally out of the question.

Owen Co will be counting on freshman Rhianna Gayheart. She was a huge help to the team last year after her middleshool season was over.

Rhianna is a great young lady and works very hard.

Henry co. should be impproved, and Kelsey Mings is a good little ball player.

Henry should be alot better, and do not forget Booher.

After seeing Henry play this summer you all must know something I don't.

Not that I disagree with you but Summer ball is really no way to judge any team. Most of the time teams are missing many players and most Coaches use it as a training tool.

But based on the records last year and who every team lost to graduation along with JV and Fresh Districts, I think Henry is still probably a year away from having a consitent competitive team in the 8th region. I think the districts will be tough with all the teams in the 31st though.

They do have some very good athletes on their team and could surprise some.

I know the Class "A" Schools don't get much respect in the 8th, and frankly they need to earn it. But I would not be suprised if Gallatin, Carroll, W-V, and Williamstown all make some noise this year and down the road.

I dont think that WV will make any noise this year, but down the road yes. From losing all those seniors last year there isn't anyone to go along with Dixon. She is a great player but wont be able to carry the team by herself. As for Williamstown, with West and Wilhoit another year older their year will come but I doubt it will be this year. IMO.

How do I found out the rankings of players for the region?

I am not sure. I know when they put together the All A they rank those players, but I have not seen anything by region. I am sure Tolliver (SK) and Fultz ( ACHS) are near the top. I am not sure of any of the names at Shelby this year.. and the Oldham's lost so many Seniors and I can not remember any of their Junior stand outs.

You have 2 nice players at Gallatin ( Jones and Balsiger) and W-town has Stith, WV has Dixon, Henry has Mings., Grant has their point guard coming back off of an injury,.Carroll has several strong returning players. But I have no idea how any of them would rank in the region.

That is why our region is so interesting this year. Anything could happen.

Catspause

So what are the rankings? I guess the top 3 are probably:

1. SK

2. Anderson

3. Shelby

After that, it gets trickier than last year and it is anyone's guess after above; maybe I am wrong. This can potentially be a very good SK team if they can keep everyone healthy.

WV will definitely make some noise the next 4yrs.

Agreed with that!;)
