July 15, 200818 yr I guess this a different postseason tournament than the NKY Regional Tournament? Things have changed some since I played, so just trying to understand how things work now. There is Div.2 which is regular Knothole.. Then there is Div.1 Knothole which is pretty much select baseball. Divison 1 Knothole is a notch below SWOL or AABC..

July 15, 200818 yr Who are some of these kids that will be playing for the Birds? I have also heard that there are some kids that play on Division 2 teams based out of Fort Thomas that are also pretty good players. Someone earlier mentioned that they were associated with District 22 and I was wondering how the teams out of that district are doing in the tournament if any are left. The Fort Thomas Bulldogs are all 13 year olds, six of them will be going into the 8th grade at HMS. Our coaches are Dave Turner and Steve Seidl. We do have a good team but not sure how many will play baseball in highschool.

It seems like when alot of the talented baseball players get older they choose not to play baseball.. I hope they keep playing....:ylsuper::ylsuper:
July 16, 200818 yr Congrats to the N. Ky. WILDCATS, who won the Class C Knothole Division 1 City Tournament tonight. They finished as district champs, overall league champs, and now City tournament champs with an overall record of 35-4. Kids are mainly from Ft. Thomas. Players are Joseph Martin, Jeffrey Lynn, Grayson Heck, Luke Hennigan, Jakey Whitford, Dylan Huff, Rocco Pangallo, Johnny Eblin, Mitchell Jones, Casey Fitch, Todd Ramey, and Pat Schoepf. Coaches are Casey Jones, Rich Whitford, Tim Martin, Herb Rardin, and Casey Hennigan. Congrats to all.
July 16, 200818 yr Don't know about a notch behind. The N. Ky. Wildcats, Division 1 City Champs, have a 5-2 record against the Hornets, AABC regular season champs, and a 1-0 record against the Lookouts, USSSA season champs. I think all teams are about even, unfair to say one league is better than the other.

I'm talking National League SWOL not Continental which the Hornets and Taylor Mill Braves play in..I'm just saying the overall competition is a little better. I have seen alot of games in both leagues JMO...The Wildcats are very strong and have alot of talented kids on their team.Congrats!!!! Way to bring home the Championship back to District 22........:thumb::thumb::dancingpa
July 17, 200818 yr Author Just got home from the finals of the loser's bracket and we (Hut A/C) won. we beat American Legion Blue from Newport, they are a very good team and I was impressed with the effort of alot of their kids. Now it is on to an all district 28 finals against St. Agnes. We beat them twice in the regular season but they got us in the finals of the winners bracket of the tourney. This one should be alot of fun. Just to follow up on the comment about the effort of the American Legion team. More than anything else, the best part of this tourney is to watch these young kids poor their heart and soul into the game and then watch how well both winners and losers handle themselves after the game. Every team that I have seen in this tournament both parents and players have handled themselves with great character.
July 18, 200818 yr Titans vs Tigers rematch tomorrow at 10:00 at Pendery Park for the B2 championship. Anyone know why they're not playing on a neutral field?
July 18, 200818 yr Titans vs Tigers rematch tomorrow at 10:00 at Pendery Park for the B2 championship. Anyone know why they're not playing on a neutral field? I looked at the website and all 4 championships are at 10:00 at Pendery. I guess the District 23 teams just got lucky. Should be a lot of good baseball tomorrow morning.

Yeah, I saw that too. The place is going to be packed with 4 games going on at once. I've heard there's a possibility of a double-header tomorrow if the one-loss team wins the first game. Have you heard the same? I would imagine that everything needs to be wrapped up by Sunday. They all should be playing tonight, and then playing tomorrow if needed.
