Tigers made a sub while they were hitting. The kid came back up to bat in the same inning and the opposing coach complained that the kid was just pinch hitting the first time around, and that the other kid should be up. The ump said what the Tigers were doing was fine. So, the coach filed a protest. A parent for the opposing team then started yelling at the Tigers coach, which the coach eventually fired back since the guy was standing right next to him (coach was coaching third at the time). A threat/challenged was exchanged to the coach and then some other parents got involved. The ump came down the line to say something, and apparently the Tigers coach said something he didn't like, and immediately ejected him. Tigers went on to win the game.

Wow what a way to start the tournament. I thought when you enter a kid to hit he is in the game until you take him out. I did not think you had to designate him as a pinch hitter.

Not surprising..that has been his act for years while beating up on the teams still left in BC Knothole. They need to step up to AABC and play somebody.

For the most part, they do beat up on everyone. However, they are a drafted team just like everyone else in Boone County, and the core of the team has been together since day 1. I hear complaints all the time about Boone County having a draft and not being able to compete with Kenton, Campbell, and Cincinnati teams. They finally have a solid team, which was created through the draft, and people still complain.

What act? From the description, I dont' see where he cheated or violated any rules.

You don't know what you are talking about as far as "his" act. We do "step up to play somebody". Last year this group played up but went back down to our own division because we are eligible to play for the city championship this year. As was stated this is a drafted team and yes the majority have been together since t-ball. Why should we go play somewhere else? I love how because this is a good team we need to go somewhere else to play.

My understanding is that it was protested when E hit for D, and E ended up coming up twice in the inning. Either way, the 'commish' was at the game and rejected the protest.

Good point. As a B1 team last year, they did play up in the B2 (or B-Div1, whatever it's called nowadays). It was really the best thing for them.

 

And if anyone in BC Knothole needs to be ripped on, it's the Pirates. What they did this year was truly pathetic.

How does this draft thing work? If there is a draft every year, how does the core of a team stay together since coach pitch? Does anyone have results from the other games that were played on Tuesday night?

From there on out through A ball, there's a draft every year, but it's for kids that want to leave their current team and new kids in the area. As a coach, you retain your team each year as long as the kids/parents want to play for you. There are no try-outs.

I did not know that Knothole teams had tryouts. Does the initial draft occur first in coach pitch or Class D? In essence, a coach can weed out players he does not want along the way and replace them with kids that he does want. From what I am reading, the whole draft thing seems to be a little overated as to why a team cannot compete with teams from other Districts.

I'm not sure when the initial draft occurs. However, the only way a coach can 'weed out' players is by ticking the parents off so they don't want to come back the next year, which I don't think generally happens. Then, in the draft, the coach takes the chance of another team drafting a kid he wants prior to his pick. Whereas, in the surrounding counties, if a kid wants to play for you the following season and you as a coach want him to, you've got him.
