I hate to hear that...

As sad as this is, it was just a matter of time.

 

His last few specials weren't the best and you knew his time was almost up. I'm just so thankful he left behind close to 40 years of material to enjoy.

Enjoyed listening to him on the "Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends" show when I was a little kid.

 

I also enjoyed him in the movie, 'Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back'.

I saw George at the Opera House in Lexington several years ago. His strong point was that he could find humor in the most MUNDANE of situations. For instance,he made me laugh at the fact that when you open a fresh loaf of bread you always take your hand and go down 4 or 5 slices to avoid getting the heal and the first few slices of bread.

 

And I will always be fond of the Hippy Dippy weatherman.

 

RIP..and thanks for all the laughs through the years.

When I heard this, I bowed my head and said the 7 Words You Can't Say on Television. I'm not trying to be funny or glib, per say. Knowing how he felt about religion, from his writing more than his stand up, I kind of think that is what George would want.

Absolutely loved George Carlin.

 

I can't even begin to think of what was my favorite act of his, they were all so incredible.

He will definitely be missed. I will have to have a showing of Carlin DVD's very soon.

Heard about this earlier tonight, which indeed is very tragic. My father has many of his standups but I must say, out of all of them...his bit on "elevator etiquette" from The Midnight Special back in the 70's is just too funny. A real class act.

Very sad news, George was the funniest comedian I've ever seen. I'm glad I got to see him live twice.

I'm old enough to have some memory of him during his early years. Recently, I've sort of rediscovered him on XM radio including and interview that listened to yesterday afternoon.

Saw him live also. Always one of my favorites. If I'm not mistaken, he hosted the Tonight Show quite a number of time for Carson.
