I knew it wouldn't take long for someone to bring out, "well they're better than the Reds" what does that matter. The Reds stink! Without Adam Dunn they're even worse.

"His counterparts in Cincinnati" were not here the past 6 years, so that point is invalid. It is true that the Jays have been playing in the same division as the Red Sox & the Yankees. It is also true that they have been playing in the same division as the Tampa Bay Devil Rays & the Baltimore Orioles - two of the worst teams in baseball the past 6 years.

June 19, 200818 yr In 2002, Tampa Bay was the worst team in the Major leagues with a 55 -106 record. Not sure if they won their final game or not. Baltimore went 67-95. In 2003, Tampa Bay was the 2nd worst team in the MLB, behind only the dreadful Tigers. Tampa Bay went 63-99 that year. Baltimore went 71-91. In 2004, Toronto was tied for the 4th worst record in baseball at 67-94. Tampa Bay was 70-91, and Baltimore 78-84. In 2005, Tampa Bay is tied for the 3rd worst record in the bigs with a 67-95 record. Baltimore finished 74-88 and Toronto was 2 games under .500 at 80-82. In 2006, Toronto went 87-75; however, Tampa Bay was the worst in the majors with a 61-101 record. Baltimore also struggled (again) with a 70-92 record. In 2007, Tampa Bay was the worst team in the majors with a 66 - 96 record. Baltimore ended up as the 3rd worst team, with a 69 - 93 record.

For some reason the Red Sox have been able to weather injuries to Ortiz, Schilling, Dice-K, Youkilis, Manny, Lowell, Colon, Moss, Buchholz, or pretty much a better cast of characters than the Reds team. Yet somehow they've managed to continue to win.

One man is not going to determine the fate of a MLB team. The Reds aren't suddenly a contendef if Ortiz is here in Dunn's place. You may not like him but in no way can you say the Reds aren't winning because of him. I know you're not that naive.

But your current leader in OPS is Rod Barajas, at .821. Current Adam Dunn, despite his poor .227 BA, would lead your team in R, HR, RBI, OBP, SLG, and (of course) OPS. But you're not "attracted" to him, naturally, because he's such a passionless turd. Great stuff.......
June 20, 200818 yr From Fire Joe Morgan . comGreat stuff....... This is very interesting since this guy , if I'm not mistaken, is of the Billy Beane school of thinking. He's worried about the batting average and ignores the OBP% and the OPS% which are key factors in the number of runs scored by a team? My guess is the guy is catching a lot of heat and is trying to save face for a combo of signings he has made and signings/acquisitions he has not made. Secondly, lets all agree that Dunn's first love is football. So what? Unless the NFL suddenly becomes an option for the Donkey, why does it matter?
