Congrats to Coach Keeton, on a great run. A very classy guy who seemed to always do the what was right for his kids and program. He will be missed. I have enjoyed competing against him over the years.

PRP caps huge season with 4th title

 

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- After a 12-year wait -- and several frustrating near-misses along the way -- the Pleasure Ridge Park High School baseball program finally has its fourth state title.

 

Trey Harper and Zack Cox combined to pitch a four-hitter, and the Panthers got just enough offense in the clutch to beat Lawrence County 4-1 in last night's championship game of the Forcht Bank/KHSAA State Tournament in front of 2,304 fans at Applebee's Park

Zack Cox is originally from Campbellsville, but he's been at PRP since the 8th or 9th grade. Can't remember for sure which year.

Congratulations to PRP, very tough team to beat. Lawrence County played their hearts and guts out last night, and anyone there, no matter who they were ruting for could see that. These kids have come a long way, and they deserved to be there. They shut down a very good Greenup County team which was on a roll. They then shut out a good Lexington Catholic team, then coming back 2 hours later and playing the best team in the state. It looked like they had just run out of steam a little bit. It's tough to play two games in that many hours. let alone be two really good teams. My heart goes out to that team and that staff, nothing to hang your heads on. You represend Eastern Ky like it should be, good luck in the future guys. Go Dawgs!!!

If they did it must have been approved by the KHSAA.

Congrats to PRP on the state championship. And congrats to Lawrence County to getting there and having the chance to be state champions. Your team played great throughout the tournament. :thumb:

Thought this was one of the better championship games in a while, closer than even the final score of 4-1. But thought it was probably the poorest run tournament since its move to Applebee. I already felt this way then I saw people from Lawrence Co. taking up donations in the stands because the consession people had charged them $90.00 for a 24 bottle case of gatorade for their players in 90 plus degree heat. They said they would not let them bring any in and then take advantage of someone like that was a little to much.

If this is true, I am appalled, and something should be done about it. Not allowing a team to bring it in and then gouging them this way should not be allowed.
