Then, looks like he and Royalty will be the replacements for Thomas. If the OL plays well, and give Royalty time to hit Bonner, Ashland could be very good.

Camp news:

 

Rashard Carter hurt his knee during practice yesterday. Reportedly the X-rays showed that nothing was broken, but the MRI wasn’t scheduled until today - so the extent of the injury is not yet known. I hope that it is not too serious and that he heals soon.

 

Observations:

 

The Tomcats have several capable running backs (without Carter). The OL is making them look good, IMO. I expected the T-cats to be able to run the ball this year so this is not surprising to me.

 

What I am finding surprising is the passing. Some good receivers are emerging – I’ve seen several athletic catches made. This team may be more balanced offensively than I expected.

 

This team doesn’t feature any big stars (yet). I think I like this “no name” team. They seem to work together well and help each other. If they keep working hard and stay focused on improvement and teamwork they could be pretty good. They will need to be because they face a lot of good teams and the new district is tough.

Apparently Carter’s knee isn’t as bad as first feared. They are more worried about his ankle, which is swollen.

 

The talented young QB (Hunter) broke a finger on his throwing hand – got it caught in a jersey.

 

I hope both young men have a speedy recovery.

Hate to hear that about Sam. Hope he heals quickly. I had heard that he may get some PT on defense, will the injury prevent that assuming it's true?

I don't know. I was told that it was a bad break. His finger was splinted, his hand was wrapped and he was in street clothes at last night's practice. I would guess that he is looking at 5-6 weeks recuperation. But he will heal and have a bright future I'm sure.
