Did we learn anything from last year? Attendance had to be way down from the previous years which in turn means the money was down. This was such a hot topic last March why has someone from Montgomery not posted attendence figures. How did the tourney at another venue. I know it was successful but was it a good move?

It was successful but was attendance down a few thousand people? I don't know the answer but would that not also determine if it was profitable?

With the team the Cards have in the future I doubt they will care where they play the

10th at.

 

I have always said, neutral court, or at least rotate the site.Only fair way to do it. I am very excited about having both the 9th and 10 region together.:dancingpa

This will really benefit the 10th region to hold it there. It will give a lot of nky folks up here by Cincy a chance to catch some 10th region action as well since the 9th/10th final will indeed be a double header. You will have 2 of the top teams in the state potentially playing their final at the same place in one night! (GRC & Holmes)

 

This will indeed boost the profit for all schools involved as 9th region fans will come to see the 10th tournament and vice versa for the finals.

You've gotta be kidding yourself if you don't think this is a great move. Attendance will be way up for the semi's and finals since 9th and 10th region action will be going on the same night which means more $$$ for all schools involved.

 

From what I've heard it will look something like this:

 

(Not exact days or rotation but just an example:

 

Thursday- 9th region 1st round

Friday- 10th region 1st round

Monday- 9th region 1st round

Tuesday- 10th region 1st round

Wednesday- 9th semis

Thursday- 10th Semis

Friday- 9th/10th finals

Spoke with a 10th region coach that participated in the tournament this past season and was told that the payoff was quite a bit different (less) than in years past. Didn't get a figure, just what I was told.

Not sure I agree Eta Rho. The Fieldhouse usually has 3500-4000 for the finals and that means they would have to have 7000 for the two finals. I have been to alot of Northern Ky games and they just don't draw that well. We proved last year alot of tenth region did not want to travel by the way attendence was at Montgomery. Why would NKY be better? How many did the ninth region draw last year?

You guys kill me! I guess the fact the weather was horrible and the dates were moved around played no role in attendance at the regional tournament. Please make me understand how an old gym that in half the seats you can't even see the scoreboard holds so much sentiment. PLEASE get over it. It is 2008, things change, let's move on! :irked:

You should probably read the post below because it's dead on. Weather also played a role in attendance. As far as NKY games not drawing well, you must have not been to as many as you say. CCH gym is full practically every game and during the regular season every schools isn't going to have a packed gym every night. People have other things to do so why would they come to games which they know will be blow outs. I know when teams in nky play their rivals the gyms are always full. Come to a district seeding game up here and you'll see what I mean.

 

As far as the 9th region tournamant goes the first round games usually had a couple thousand people, outside of the Holmes games because they played the late games and everyone knew they'd be blow outs. In this finals though, between CCH and Holmes I'd say there was every bit of 3500 people there. Throw in the fact that this year it's at NKU which is centered for everyone and that number will grow as people won't mind the large crowd because the arena is MUCH bigger.

 

And having the 10th region tournament at NKU will definetly draw a good crowd from 9th region fans as they'll want to see the Zollo kid and Mason Co should be back to normal the year after this. If you don't think people are going to come to a 9th/10th final double header you're sadly mistaken. I can guarantee that it could potentially reach 7-8,000 people for the finals since they won't clear the gym.

DEAD ON!! :thumb: Mason Co fans just need to get over it that their homecourt advantage will be thrown out the window the next few years and they'll have to win on a neutral court.

I know one reason I have chosen not to go to the 9th region tournaments in the past has been the size of the gyms. I for one will be more likely to go now since I won't be cramped in a hot HS gym.

Exactly. That's the reason a lot of people don't go. Add in the fact that this year it won't be on tv and a lot more people will be there than in years past.

Well I'd sure hope so considering the team Mason had this past year. My point is some of the MC faithful need to stop complaining about where the region tournament is held.
