Why start Griffey tonight when they are coming home tomorrow? I know alot of people that are buying tickets to tomorrow nights game just to see if Griffey hits 600. If he hits it tonight gonna be alot of people mad if they bought tickets for tomorrows game.

I don't think Dusty cares if he makes people mad. He's trying to win and he's putting the best lineup on the field.

Surely you jest...

Patterson at the top of the order for two months and an aging Griffey at #3 ... makes you wonder.

Who else did you want to play center? Freel? He's proved in the past he's not an everyday player. People not wanting to see Griffey in the 3 hole is getting old. Name me one other manager who wouldn't bat him 3 on this team? What would your lineup look like?

Given the absence of Bruce at the start of the season, some sort of Hopper/Patterson/Freel arrangement in center was acceptable ... but Patterson should never have been hitting in the leadoff or #2 spots.

I suspect a lot of managers would be a little more creative (and smarter) than Dusty.

I agree that Patterson should have never been hitting 1 or 2. I feel he would have been far more productive in the 7 hole. You didn't really answer my question about Griffey though. Your best overall hitter should be placed in the 3 hole. Now i'm not really sure who the Reds best overall hitter is. Phillips doesn't have enough plate discpline. You need Dunn to drive in runs so the 4 or 5 spot is good for him. That really leave Bruce and Votto. They are both rookies. I wouldn't want my 3 hole filled with a rookie, but thats just me. I really like Bruce in the 2 hole, even though his future is at the 3 spot. I may consider having Bruce in the 2 hole next year with Votto at the 3. But we still have all of this season to deal with first.

To bad he couldn't get it at home but I bet he is happier his family got to see it.

THERE IT IS!!!!!!

BP with his classic swing out is errrrrr butt on the first pich then pop up.

A guy who has always done things the right way on the field, congrats to him.

With that said, time to get him off the roster now.
