Any word on the Highlands players who will participate?

Well of course they do, the East has Highlands/CovCath/NCC so there you go. It shouldnt be any different this year.

The west is loaded with the bigger schools. (Ryle, Boone, SK, Scott, Conner) while the East has only Campbell Co. The west should be the better team every year considering they are playing against the smaller team's all stars.

 

The talent level in the bigger schools just isn't up to par with that of Highlands, NCC, and CCH though. Throw in the athletes from Holmes and the toughness of Campbell, and add a few good players from the other reps (Dixie, Bellevue, Dayton, Newport) and it's going to be a mismatch every year.

The East wins because they have the all state caliber players in the Highlands/NC's/CovCath's and then the other schools may only send a few players but they are the absolute best that the school has and could play at bigger schools. The best teams aren't simply the best because they have better players, because there are very good players at every school; the best teams are the best because they have more of the best players.

 

For example, just thinking back to last years East squad, there were 4 from NC/Highlands/NewCath that were all major contributors, but the biggest school, Campbell County only sent three, but they were a record setting tandem at QB/WR and a solid receiver. I only remember Holmes having three, but one was the East's only RB, a LB playing at Morehead, and a solid OL. Newport sent a QB that lit up NKY for three years and a LB that is playing college ball. Dayton had a couple kids playing that are playing college ball. Bellevue sent some big hitters. Dixie's guys were in their own system and helped everyone else out learning it.

 

Once they put on the same uniforms you can't tell who is from a big school and who is from a small school and who won state championships and who didn't.

My understanding is ... Cov Cath and Highlands were on opposite teams for many years. However, a bruhaha erupted during the senior games and the powers to be decided to put the two schools together. Something like, "If You Can't Beat 'em, Join 'em.

I heard last evening that the date of the N Ky All-Star may be moved to another date and time. This is due to the Kentucky State Track meet being held the same day...

 

That is what I heard... hopefully this will be confirmed or denied in the near future!

Bellevue is sending Derek Bryan, Bob Berns, Tony Stadtmiller, Adam Bowling and Chris Weber.

Hope it's moved - graduation is the same night for the Ryle boys
