June 6, 200818 yr The Sox are here for a 3 game series June 30 and July 1 & 2. This should be fun. Rock the Trop! :thumb:
June 7, 200818 yr I believe Gomes should have the largest number of games suspended out of this altercation for his actions. No way. Crisp easily deserved the most punishment. Shields did exactly what you're supposed to dob elow the belt to the best place you can get hit. He had no business charging the mound...
June 7, 200818 yr Well Crisp got the most punishiment at seven games and I believe that Shields was second with six. Gomes with five and a handful of players got a few games suspended...including old Red Sean Casey who got three.

Gomes with five and a handful of players got a few games suspended...including old Red Sean Casey who got three. No surprise about The Mayor. He's the nicest guy in the league until you mess with any of his boys. Who remembers him going off on some Phillies in 2003 when Dunn charged the mound? He was not a happy man.
June 7, 200818 yr Carl Crawford was one of my fav players in the league until I witnessed him scratching Coco Crisp... come on... why do you have nails in the first place?
June 7, 200818 yr Shields' pitch to BoSox's Crisp sparks bench-clearing brawl BOSTON -- Boston center fielder Coco Crisp was hit on the right hip by Tampa Bay right-hander James Shields, prompting a benches-clearing brawl in the second inning of their game Thursday night. Crisp dropped his bat, charged the mound, ducked a wild right by Shields before throwing a few punches that may have grazed Shields before being tackled to the ground by catcher Dioner Navarro. Rays DH Jonny Gomes charged the mound from the dugout, jumped on Navarro and Crisp, and threw a few punches that hit Crisp while he was on the ground. The teams have a history of on-field confrontations. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3428091 I recall two years ago being in Maine and we were at a bar watching BoSox-Rays and there was a brawl then.,
June 7, 200818 yr I recall two years ago being in Maine and we were at a bar watching BoSox-Rays and there was a brawl then., They've had a few. Pedro Martinez was headhunting and it caused one. I think there was one more.
June 7, 200818 yr Some are speculating that Youk wasnt happy with Manny not rushing out to help his mates in the scrum and it was mentioned in the dugout. You do not want to have the reputation of being hesitant to back your brothers. That was mentioned as a possibility on the NESN post game show but, as per this mornings Boston Globe, it had more to do w/ Manny taking exception to Youks constant complaining everytime a strike is called on him as well as his habit of throwing his helmet in anger. see below... http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2008/06/07/did_youkilis_ignite_scrap/

June 7, 200818 yr I've always been a Joe Maddon fan and still am. Good for him for not going cliche on us and saying "its unforunate" "not good for the game" etc. Instead, he says it had to be done and he's proud of his team for their actions. Players love playing for that type of manager.
