June 6, 200818 yr Shields' pitch to BoSox's Crisp sparks bench-clearing brawl BOSTON -- Boston center fielder Coco Crisp was hit on the right hip by Tampa Bay right-hander James Shields, prompting a benches-clearing brawl in the second inning of their game Thursday night. Crisp dropped his bat, charged the mound, ducked a wild right by Shields before throwing a few punches that may have grazed Shields before being tackled to the ground by catcher Dioner Navarro. Rays DH Jonny Gomes charged the mound from the dugout, jumped on Navarro and Crisp, and threw a few punches that hit Crisp while he was on the ground. The teams have a history of on-field confrontations. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3428091
June 6, 200818 yr Coco would have been out cold if he didn't dodge that punch. No doubt....what a swing. :scared:
June 6, 200818 yr Author Someone posted on the comments on that video that Coco looked like the guy from The Matrix when he dodged that punch, lol.
June 6, 200818 yr Author Seen this coming after Coco sled into 2nd hard last night. I think I heard the announcers say something along the lines of Coco knew it was coming in tonight's game.
June 6, 200818 yr Coco would have been out cold if he didn't dodge that punch. He is one lucky guy to dodge that haymaker...that woudn't have felt good at all tomorrow if it landed.
June 6, 200818 yr Its amazing how many professional athletes have zero clue as to how to throw a punch.
June 6, 200818 yr Wow...did any of you all hear what Coco had to say in an interview after the game...lol hilarious. There is gonna be more action within this one sometime down the road.
June 6, 200818 yr Saw the slide from the previous night. The Rays pitcher did the right thing in retaliating and by keeping it below the neck. Perfect example of how players can police themselves.
June 6, 200818 yr I saw this coming. That slide last night by Coco was a dirty play and the manager of the Rays was heated after it.
