June 6, 200818 yr What does everyone think of the movie based on the great Jim Thorpe's life, starring Burt Lancaster? I can't remember the name of the film, but it was very good imo. "Jim Thorpe - All American" - good movie.
June 6, 200818 yr Absolutely love 'The Natural', even though the ending (lights exploding) was overdone just a tad. All my favorites are baseball movies that have already been mentioned, but two non-baseball movies that are terrific are: 'Vision Quest' - and, if you're my age (mid-40's), you'll love the 80's soundtrack. 'Victory' - soccer movie with Sylvester Stallone.

June 6, 200818 yr If I had to rank them, 1. Hoosiers 2. The Natural 3. Remember the Titans The sports movie I can relate to the most is The Sandlot. How many times did the game end when you hit the ball over the fence of the crotchety neighbor's house. Too hot to play so hit the pool (although I never found Wendy Peffercorn). Night game. The only drawback is that Smalls grows up to be the worst play by play announcer in the history of mankind. Even worse than Chip Caray. *61 was another sports movie I loved. Not a big Yankees fan but they couldn't have cast two better people than Pepper and Jane in those roles.
June 6, 200818 yr 1.) Pride of the Yankees (the Lou Gherig Story) -all time favorite and very personal and emotional for me. 2.) "61" - a close second (this is the Billy Crystal movie focusing on Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris and the HR chase in that season, great movie) 3.) Brian's Song (if a person doesn't get emotional in this one then check, you may be dead ) 4.) Remember the Titans 5.) Rudy 6.) Hoosiers (should have and easily could had been named "Wildcats" ) 7.) June 6, 200818 yr *61 was another sports movie I loved. Not a big Yankees fan but they couldn't have cast two better people than Pepper and Jane in those roles. Couldn't agree with you more Scribe. Pepper is actually one of my favorite actors.

That's why I love the movie. Another one of those few that can bring a tear to my eye, especially towards the end. And an awesome finish it is when they show that actual man they call Radio.
June 6, 200818 yr Pride The Air up There Sea Biscuit National Velvet The Bad News Bears (The first one) I saw one about Babe Didkerson(sp?) along time ago that was good but I don't remember the name.
