I didn't say that I served in any branch of the military because I didn't. However, that doesn't make me any less of an American or any less entitled to my own opinion or have any less reason to be proud of my family members that did.

Thank you. I do agree with your point about having no problem with anyone's political affiliation as long as they show respect, not necessarily agreement, with opinions that differ from theirs.

I hope so. Like you, I think there is some history there to indicate that he would lead differently. I think that one clip of McCain almost laying his head on Bush while hugging him may come back to haunt him.

Good point. I prefer McCain to stand on his own two feet. I believe that he will do just that.

He's definately in a tough spot. I am excited to see the directions both campaigns take from here on out. Politics is always fertile ground for some surprising twists and turns. It should be fun.

I don't dislike McCain. I think he is the best his party will nominate since Reagan, maybe before.(I know, that's not saying much). If he can somehow excite conservatives and appeal to independents in mass, he can make things interesting. Unfortunately for John, his opponent also has great appeal to independents. I think women and independents will be the key.

But they are everpresent nemeses that continue to haunt and hinder.

Unfortunately, probably true. Nearly helped destroy the Union once; you'd think we'd learn.

I think a very key point to the election will be who will McCain choose as his running mate. He should wait and let Obama pick his first. Then he can counteract with who he feels will negate that choice and pull undecided votes from that ticket. He may surprise us by picking an African American or a female. He may be too conservative for that. Time will tell.
