June 8, 200818 yr Author This would have been a big win for the Reds...Now they need to come out and with the last two games of the series. Tough, tough loss. It would have evened the road trip at 3-3, with the Reds having their two best pitchers going in the next two games. They also would have gained a game on the Cubs. It just really stings to lose this one, after battling back all night long. Hopefully they will put this one behind them, and Harang will throw a gem tomorrow.

They had the game won, and Cordero blew it. Now you can't complain about the job he has done this year since he's been great. I wouldn't say they have a long way to go though.

You just said the Reds have a long way to go and I said i didn't think so. I'm up for a good argument about it. I like hearing others opinions even if they are different than mine. I think the Reds have all the pieces together to be a real threat, but overall they are still a bit inexperienced and I think that is why they struggle on the road. However, a lot of teams struggle on the road and as of late the Reds are basically unbeatable at home. I just dont see how you can say they have a long way to go, but feel free to enlighten me on your opinion.

Lincoln has been shaky and so has Weathers, although he pitched okay tonight. Griffey is slow and should be moved as soon as he hits #600. If he gets there soon. Left nine runners in scoring postions, three with less than two outs. There's no real sign of consistency here. That's one of the main problems and why they have a long way to go.

However, consistency comes with experience, which the Reds lack in some important spots. Leaving runners in scoring position is something every team does all the time, so thats a weak argument. The reds need a long man in the bullpen which they don't have, and I think they should bring Herrera back up. Atleast he challenges hitters. Griffey is playing on a bum knee right now and i'd say he has been for a while. IMO, this is his last season, unless he goes to the AL just to DH. The Reds have three guys in their rotation right now 24 years old or younger. Edwin is still young, as is Votto and Bruce. I'd like to see them trade Arroyo and get his contract off the books as I feel the lefty in AAA or Thompson could do just as good as he has been doing. These are all minor things that are an easy fix. And most importantly all the young guys are gaining experience. The Reds aren't far off. Oh and not many people on here get blasted, they just have a hard time handling it when someone disagrees with them.

With that said I really liked the Reds picking up Cody Ross, and though they let go a pretty solid player in a numbers crunch when he was sent away. Always stings a little harder when it's a guy you knew could help out when he was brought in...
June 8, 200818 yr They are hitting 25 points higher with risp and two outs. You have to get the runners home. It extends innings, makes pitchers throw more pitches, etc. I know that sounds too obvious, but that's what separates winners and losers. That and bullpens.
