I think race is more of a divisional argument in this country than the issue of gender, so I vote for electing an African American

I would say either if that was an option. I think that selecting the right person would do more for our country than anything else. If I had be nailed down I would agree with you.

If the choice is between a liberal African-American like Obama or a liberal woman like Hillary, then my answer would be neither. Given the choice between a right of center woman or a right of center black man, I would say African-American.

OTOH, a black president such as Colin Powell, who has worked hard and gotten where he is on merit and demonstrated leadership ability would be a great example for all Americans, regardless of race or gender. Somebody like Powell would send a powerful message to all Americans. A President Obama, will send an entirely different message.

 

You cannot reasonably separate a politician's skin color from his or her record and political philosophy.

The best way to make GDP expand is an economic policy that makes it advantageous for companies to hire employees and turn profits... Okay, there is an African-American candidate who perfectly matches everything you want as a President. There is a female candidate who perfectly matches everything you want as a President.

 

They are perfectly even in your mind but their race and gender.

Most likely, higher tax rates will result in lower tax revenues as the economy declines. Liberals believe in spreading misery equally.

I hope the day comes when none of this matters. I hope we can simply elect the person who is best suited to do the job. We would base our vote on who best represents our political beliefs, not because someone is of certain race or sex.

I could never vote for either of the Democratic candates as their political beliefs are opposite of mine, pure and simple.
