May 11, 200818 yr Oliver Perez is 2-0 with a 4.09 ERA in two starts versus the Reds last season, and is 8-3 with a 4.06 ERA in 16 career starts against them. Cincinnati will counter with rookie Johnny Cueto (2-3, 5.27). He earned a win in his last start, allowing three runs and six hits while striking out eight in six innings as the Reds beat the Chicago Cubs 5-3 on Monday night. The 22-year-old right-hander lost his previous two starts, posting an 11.42 ERA. This will be his first appearance against the Mets. Ken Griffey Jr. is batting just .100 (2-for-20) in the last five games Cueto has started. He remains stalled in his bid to become the sixth player with 600 home runs, going without a homer in 59 at-bats. Griffey has only four homers in 95 career at-bats at Shea Stadium. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/preview?gid=280511121
May 11, 200818 yr Arroyo's at 101 pitches. Why is Dusty running him back out there? Weathers and Cordero are well rested. He could have pinch hit Votto, and tried to stretch the lead. He's got a rubber arm. When he pitches well he goes over 110 easily.

May 11, 200818 yr Ryan Freel cf Joey Votto 1b Ken Griffey Jr. rf Brandon Phillips 2b Edwin Encarnacion 3b Adam Dunn lf Jeff Keppinger ss Paul Bako c Johnny Cueto p I like it, but maybe flip Votto and BP later.
May 11, 200818 yr Hal telling Marty that a special assistant to the Seattle GM is at the game today. He said the Reds could trade Griffey before 600. He also said that when Dusty was asked about Belisle making his next start, Dusty didn't say yes or no. So it appears all you Homer fans are going to get your wish. I think he will struggle when he comes up and will happily eat crow if I'm wrong.
May 11, 200818 yr Author Can we revisit tomorrow when Junior is on the bench??? Ryan Freel cf Joey Votto 1b Ken Griffey Jr. rf Brandon Phillips 2b Edwin Encarnacion 3b Adam Dunn lf Jeff Keppinger ss Paul Bako c Johnny Cueto p Are we still going to revist this?
May 11, 200818 yr Author He's got a rubber arm. When he pitches well he goes over 110 easily. He doesn't have a rubber arm. There are a lot of people that still point to the game where Naron left Arroyo in the game for 116 or so pitches as when his troubles began.
May 11, 200818 yr I guess Cueto has come back to Earth now. As far as Griffey goes, I think they are keeping him in the lineup to hit #600 so they can ship him away. The quicker the better I guess.
May 11, 200818 yr He went over 100 18 times last year. He went over 100 32 times the year before. His best year. When he has it going good he throws a lot of pitches.

May 11, 200818 yr Author It's too bad the Reds can't clone Soto, so he could be the full time pitching coach, and still run the baseball academy in the Dominican.
May 11, 200818 yr Author He went over 100 18 times last year. He went over 100 32 times the year before. His best year. When he has it going good he throws a lot of pitches. Which is even more reason to cut down on his pitch counts whenever you can. All of the numbers you listed above, very well could be a big part of the problems that Arroyo has been having. When you have a 4-1 lead, and have a rest Weathers, and $44 millon closer, why not go to them, instead of running Arroyo's pitch count up even higher?
