April 25, 200818 yr We already have the exalted version, Mr.-Take-No-Crap,-But-We'll-Ram-Our-Crap-Down-Your-Throat-Guy. I'm ready for Mr.-Nice-Diplomatic-Guy. I actually liked his attitude in the beginning. I want to know who told him to back off/down?
April 25, 200818 yr Great post leatherneck, I agree with all that you have said. I can honestly say that I don't know who that I am voting for as of now but I respect McCain for his service to our country and the fact that he is an American War Hero. I disagree with some of his statements/policies on what needs to be done on certain issues as I do all of the cantidates. After I saw this on the news the other day I have even more respect for J. McCain. That move was all class, he definately outshines both of the others in that department. I can't see how anyone could argue that. Win or Lose this election........John McCain is a TRUE American and represents himself with class and dignity. I'm not buying it yet, the dignity act of no dirty politics. Where was he at when Huckabee camp launched anti-material on Romney's religion? Romney's religion is far from radical, and doesn't preach politics from the pulpit or cursing American?
April 25, 200818 yr Maybe, or maybe he is making his weak protest so he can get the best of both. If you remember, President Bush always said he was sure that John Kerry had served honorably, while his backers ran those miserable lies over and over again. Trying to have it both ways is a well known republican tactic. I do have to wonder, if he can't even control his own party, why should we think he will be able to lead the government? I'm not buying it yet, the dignity act of no dirty politics. Where was he at when Huckabee camp launched anti-material on Romney's religion? Romney's religion is far from radical, and doesn't preach politics from the pulpit or cursing American? Both of you may be right and you make a point. I just think that it was a class act by McCain. I think that I can very safely say that a "clean" politician does not exist, regardless of party. "If they aren't a crook when they go in office the they sure are by the time that they leave" is something my dad used to always say about any of them. I think that I remember the Clinton's saying that they wanted to run a clean campaign on the issues and Bill (and HillBillary) have been blasting Obama with no class shots ever since as well as Obama at them. Mr. Bill has even tried playing the race card on him, imo Hillary would be doing much better if she just had Bill stay at home or at the ciagar shop and keep his mouth shut . She (Hillary) started losing ground the more that Bill started campaining/running his mouth for her. Who knows?, that may be his plan all along:p, he probably even hates her.:sssh: Also, Trinity alum, you said "that was a well known republican tactic", if so then that amoung other tactics reside with Democrats as well. I will say that as the old joke goes, "How you can tell when a politician is lying ?"....."His (or hers) mouth is moving". That goes for all parties. JMO My how I love election time, the comedy is never ending. :thumb:
April 27, 200818 yr Why are you a maverick and a straight talker when you attack Republicans, especially President Bush, but at the same time your attackers are calling your candidacy Bush's third term...
April 27, 200818 yr McCain says he wanted the ads pulled but made no phone calls to the NC party to have them pulled. He also tried to equate Obama as the Hamas and North Korea candidate. So much for the "classy" election from flip-flop McSame.

So much for the "classy" election from flip-flop McSame.Who cares? It's about time he goes on the attack, Obama should be hammered as hard as any other candidate. He's not special. Obama compared conservative Republican Senator Tom Coburn to Weather Underground terrorists when asked about his connections to unrepentant terrorist William Ayers. Was that OK?
April 27, 200818 yr Obama compared conservative Republican Senator Tom Coburn to Weather Underground terrorists when asked about his connections to unrepentant terrorist William Ayers. Was that OK?Way to twist the truth there ... Obama didn't compare Coburn to those people. He said that he is friendly with Coburn, so asked if he is also supposed to disavow Coburn because of some political comments he's made in the past.
April 28, 200818 yr Obama didn't compare Coburn to those people. He said that he is friendly with Coburn, so asked if he is also supposed to disavow Coburn because of some political comments he's made in the past. That is exactly what Obama did. He used Coburn as an analogy to Ayers and what is an analogy used for? To draw a comparison. The problem is that not many people are to Obama's political left. From Obama's far left perch, US Senator Coburn is as much an extremist as the bomb throwing Ayers and his terrorist wife. That is why he made the comparison.

I would have no problem disavowing a terrorist and I am at a loss to explain why Obama can not find it in himself to do the same.

April 28, 200818 yr Of course. People, lets quit feigning political naivete. NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING a politician does, esp. one running for President, is devoid of political purpose. Will you guys remember that as the campaign moves through the summer? Man, you are quite the cynic aren't you. I'm sorry but I still believe that some politicians are good people (actually, they all are with me until they prove themselves to be the contrary) that do and say things during political campaigns for the right reasons. Being close to some politicians that are in fact good people doing things for the right reasons, I know that not all of them are as jaded as you make them to be. I am also know some politicians that are as you described them to be. But not all of them are. I very close friend of mine in a very close election was advised repeatedly and strongly to go dirty on his opponent (and the stuff was there). I was very pleased when my friend resisted the strong pressure (some of it was from national types) and refused to go dirty. You may rightly wonder if McCain criticized the ad for political reasons, but to say that he had to be doing it for that reason because that's the way all politicians do it all the time is flat out wrong. And until it is proven that such was McCain's motivation I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt. Man, it must be tough getting out of bed every day being as cynical as you are and having zero faith in the integrity of your elected officials. It would be for me.
