April 21, 200818 yr All I can say is, this guy gets the Golden Dufus Award for the year. He most definitely deserved to be arrested. It's no different than the guy who goes over Niagara Falls in a barrel, climbs the outside of a skyscraper or parachutes off a bridge. It's disorderly conduct...and exceedingly stupid.

Maybe not the smartest time of year to do it, (that water has to be cold) and I wouldn't suggest swimming without a boat along side of you and a life jacket.

They should've realized that he did nothing illegal and the concerned citizens that called it in did nothing illegal. I don't know what kind of idiots think someone is drowning when he is obviously swimming and makes it all the way across the river, but that's beside the point. Noone in this situation did anything wrong, except for the police.
April 21, 200818 yr Maybe he was swimming on his back, bobbing, etc, and it caused the person to thing he was drowning. If I saw someone try to swim the river I'd probably react too. So what would be the reaction if a bystander did nothing at all and he died?
