Bill Maher is a bigot and like Don Imus he should be fired

Anti-Catholic Rant

First a disclaimer, this link is to a professed conservative website that tries to expose the liberal bias in modern media.

I guess a several minute tirade that attacks Catholics the world over is less offensive then a three word blunder by Don Imus.

I first heard about this on the Laura Ingram show this morning. I for one find it very telling that none of the so-called main stream media sources have anything about it. When Don Imus made his infamous comments there was coverage by everyone in media.

I would love to hear other opinions about this.

I love watching Bill Maher and watched this episode. I understand the point he was trying to make (I am not saying I agree with it), but he went way too far with this one.

First of all, I do not agree with everything he said. But, like Bugatti, I can see the point he was attempting to make. He may have went over the top a little, but what he said and what Imus said are a little different.

He may have gone a little too far. I don't think he's a bigot. He thinks all religion is stupid.

So because he thinks all religion is bad he has carte blanche to trash thos ethat adhere to one of them?

If that was a little to far what would he have had to say to be truly offensive?

Have you ever listened to him? He always trashes religion and it doesn't matter to him which one it is. What he said was a little offensive to me, but his point about child abuse and the church's lack of action is a valid one.

So that means he can paint the entire church as a pedophilia cult?

I wonder how many people that called for Imus' head listened to him? That makes no difference at all and if anything the fact that he slams other religions only serves to make me feel more strongly that he is a bigot.

Would firing him really do any good. You are aware that Don Imus is again on the radio just 8 months after his comments. He can be heard morning drive on WABC in New York.

The only diference, IMO, is that racial discrimination is a big deal in the media, and religious discrimination is not. Coupled with the fact that people tend to dislike Catholics as well, I guess.

Agreed he is a bigot, but no way is he going to get fired. Being against racism is PC, being against anti-religious tirades is so 300 years, isn't that why people came to America?

Interestingly enough, only 2-3 weeks ago our priest had said that Catholics are the only group of people in this country that can get persecuted, and no one in the media seems to care....Looks like he was right on.

I have felt this way for some time now. People that I know who are not Catholic (and are from very Catholic parts of the country) are baffled when I talk of this sort of thing. I don't understand how they can't notice it sometimes, but then again I am probably a bit more sensitive to it.

Instead of a link to a conservative "news service" that tells you about Maher's comments while ignoring their somewhat tongue-in-cheek nature, how about a link to the actual comments themselves, without the accompanying commentary?

What does it matter if you watch the video on YouTube or NewsBusters? The conservative "news service" had the same video.

For the record, I don't think Imus nor Maher should be (or have been) fired.

With their own little spin attached to it ...
