Randy will no doubt take his lumps at Cooper. But he does know football and I believe he will get Cooper on the right track. He's a young coach with alot of ability and with the talent he will eventually get there , I'm confident he will do well.

Randy will do well at Cooper. He is a pleasure to work w/ and will be up front w/ people, which in this modern everyone gets a trophy and don't forget the snacks for after the game world of ours isn't always appreciated.

Is Borchers still coach at Cooper? I thought he would have quit by now...

That's about how hard I was laughing when he turned down Scott for a 1A school.

I think you missed what he meant Hurricane. He was laughing because that shows how unattractive that Scott job actually was. That someone would actually rather stay an assistant for a year at a 1A school, than take the Scott Head Job.

The animosity comes from the coach applying for the job, interviewing for the job, accepting the job, getting big stories in the Post & Enquirer about his big plans for fixing things, and then calls up the next day and says 'no thanks'.

 

If he didn't want the job it probably would have been best to not apply, not interview, not accept, and not publicly pose and then change his mind the next day.

From what I understand certain promises were made by the administration during the interview process, then isoon after Coach Borchers accepted the job those same promises were revoked. If the administration had been honest Coach Borchers would have never accepted the job. Scott has a track record of such conduct. They have gone through coaches at a pretty quick rate.

I have changed my mind on what I want for lunch. I have changed my mind on what shirt I am going to wear to work. So, In those cases I have changed my mind. I have never put in for a job, went through multiple interviews over a month long period, accepted the job, went to the media to discuss it, and then decide the next day to change my mind.

If the school does have a track record of this behaviour as you have said, why would you openly pursue a position there? I think that researching a job you are going to put in for would be a wise step before you waste anybody's time.

He didn't take the Scott job because he found out he would be getting the Ludlow job and thats what he wanted at the time. I mean yes he did all the stuff like talking to the papers and walking through Scott with his Scott football jacket on and all that but he changed his mind was it a good move no I don't think it was but I was glad he did it because Scott then landed a coach that loved the school and would do anything for the team. But back to Bourchers, I think he is a good guy I don't think he will do well at Cooper at all the other Boone County Schools along with the other 6A schoold are going to be to tough for them. I know we don't know what players Cooper will have but its going to be a rough road and I don't think Bourchers will be around long enough to see the brighter side of Cooper football.

There are some on here that disagree with that, and people are going to say some slanderous things about Borchers because they don't have a high opinion of him. Let's let the guy actually have a couple of years at Cooper before we pass judgement on him. How he was evaluated at Ludlow wasn't exactly fair.

 

1. Ludlow has no more than 35 kids on the team a year. According to numbers i've heard so far, that's Cooper's freshman team.

2. He had some support from the community, but not a lot. As I posted earlier, there were a select few that refused to help out the Ludlow program and tried to veto a new weight room that Borchers was trying to get installed. Needless to say he won and the weightroom in now in service at Ludlow.

3. It has been claimed that kids in Ludlow "gave up" on Borchers. At least that's what I've been told by someone on this site. Actually if you have shown any support for Borchers at all, this same poster probably sent you a PM telling you why your wrong and why Borchers is the worst possible candidate for the job. Well I talked to the players as I know many of them and they never gave up. There were just a lot of things that didn't go Ludlows way this past year.

4. Kids in Ludlow know that when they are on a team that has 35 kids, you are pretty much guaranteed a starting spot when you're an older kid. This makes kids at Ludlow not practice hard. They have no sense of competition at positions.

 

Now before anyone claims that I'm just a Ludlow hater, I want everyone to know that I am a supporter of the school as I am an alumni of some many years ago. I just think the situation needs to be out in the open as to why things didn't go well at Ludlow.

He runs a good offense and he has a solid defense and with the amount of players Cooper will get from the Boone County Pee Wee program, not to mention some kids who will develop into studs from Conner or Ryle that have to go to Cooper, I look for Coach Borchers and Cooper to develop into a solid team.

In all honesty, I just didn't know how to end what I was saying. Ludlow has a great community as I lived there for quite a few years so I have nothing against the school or town. Just venting a little I guess.

The ramifications of what he did were akin to changing your lunch or changing your shirt. The only thing that was hurt in the whole process were the egos of some at Scott (which weren't that inflated to begin with, but shrunk even more when they realized an asst. job at Ludlow is preferrable to the head man at Scott).

 

Truth be known even when Borchers accepted the job, I am still he was sure processing the whole thing in his brain.
